Unless he marched to Zela with eyes closed, Caesar got it wrong.

My tattoos are all in Latin! Took it three years in high school and another year in college (intro, for an easy A. I got a B...).

Wanted to impress my dad (who loves ancient languages). Should have taken Spanish.

Took Latin in college just to try a different language. Its a nice conversation starter on my resume during interviews at least...

A conversation in … Latin of course! happy.gif

Actually I wish I had taken Latin, but didn't have a clue I would go to law school back then. Took five years of German and have been learning Mandarin since late '07/early '08.

Srs. And those aren't even the nerdiest tattoos I know.

My best friend from high school majored in pure math and is an actuary*. He got his favorite mathematical proof tattooed on his ribcage.

* He also started at cornerback and was homecoming king, which goes to show that all sorts of weirdos like math.

A casual remark by Claghorn on another thread reminded me of a question I’ve been meaning to ask for some time.  I’ve got a pair of these:

Pretty much any jacket will result in a ‘northern lights’ situation since these are pretty dark.  Other than mid- to light gray flannel, any suggestions?   (It occurs to me that since the trousers aren’t patterned, a patterned jacket like a tweed herringbone with an overcheck might be nice.)

Cheers,

Ac

I rather like those! What about something in a golden or wheat color?

I get my favorite SF quotes tattooed on my back.

I have the same pants and wear them with a tan tweed jacket and a gray jacket.  Neither picture is very good as the only picture of the gray jacket combo is a watch picture (but you get the idea) and the tan jacket combo has fit issues (about 20 pounds lighter than my normal weight at the time), but, again, you get the idea.

Loafers are a wardrobe essential...in both smooth calf and suede...and anyone with a taste for American/Ivy League style will demand a pair of cordovan tassel or penny loafers (or both).

They are a great way to dress down a suit or add great casual effect to a summer odd jacket/trouser combination. And in the business world you will still see many men dressed in navy suits with cordovan Alden loafers in black, burgundy, and brown.

I can understand some not liking them...and this is their prerogative. But, they are definitely an essential in a well stocked and diversified wardrobe.

Thanks. LOL at the amusing discussion about loafers that ensued. When all I intended to ask was whether this pair of loafers was a go or no-go. They look rather 'dressy' to me, no?

Yay. I like 'em. If I ever get a second pair, it will be those. And as we all know, my knowledge and taste in shoes is impeccable.

Also nice:

Of course they're fucking good.

I wear those Carmina ones a lot but they are starting to look super bedraggled. Probably in a good way.
