I think once the soles are this worn, you need to resole as part of putting a topy on.  I do not think you can just slap a rubber topy on a sole this worn out.  I do not know the answer to his question about leather soles that get very slick, but I have two pairs like this.  They are well worn, not at the resole point yet, but are slicker than they used to be.  As the two pairs I'm thinking of are 3 and 4 years old on the same sole, I've been thinking about putting a little Bick 4 on the bottom of the soles to see what it does.

That's why I wait for the sales and then order like 10 pairs haha. Plus the no tracking sucks. But still, they get there.

How do you like yours?

The other day at Target I had to shuffle around to avoid eating shit. I am guessing this happens to others at times. What do you do - take sand paper to the bottoms to rough them up again? Or do you just re-sole? Is this a sign that they need to be replaced?

Of course at some point they'll need to be resoled or replaced.  In the short term these will buy you some time:

Went outside for the first time in 3 months and discovered that most people wear sneakers and puffy coats. Was by no means iGent level dressed, just a sweater, but I felt like I had crash landed from Neptune.

One of the many advantages of having a husband rather than a wife is that my husband doesn't carry a purse (or a murse, for that matter). So much less angst than you straight boys.

My spouse occasionally has a filson briefcase packed full with hardcover 17th century literature, which I have to help carry on top of my own, so I'm not entirely sure if it's an improvement. =[

If you were really from Neptune, you'd have a puffy coat. It's cold there.

I have a black leather bag with the relative size and formfactor of a camera bag and I jam electronic equipment in there when I have to board a train and work on the go. Is this a murse? It has a shoulder strap.
