Found a BB Fitz jacket that I saw last year (and posted pix here) at an outlet store for 65% off. I swiped the card and #bam# the card is blocked because I am in a different state, even though that state is within 15 min driving distance. So I called the bank while I am at the store and get told that the dept that handles this is closed. Thanks Capital One POS bank!

I should have told you: I contacted your bank to tell them to block all your suit and SC purchases unless made at a certain tailoring house in a certain E. Asian capital.

You have too much power. I will be getting a suit soon...just not from BnT yet.

So now that I can do OJT, is this jacket a good start? It is the BB Fitz jacket on sale for 65% off. Is this versatile? The fit looks aight.

It fits well but it's not a versatile color. Try putting some ties you currently own next to the jacket and see what works.

At 65% off, that could be an astute purchase @Cao Cao, especially if it plugs a known gap in your sartorial armamentarium.

Know it for what it is though: a pleasant but unexceptional medium-range RTW piece. Note the slightly thinner-than-ideal lapels. Note the straight line of the breast pocket. Note the boxy quarters.

I have just one BB jacket, also a Fitzgerald I think, but in mid-blue linen with a fine windowpane. I quite like it, but don't wear it all that often.

Thanks guys for chiming in.

@Coxsackie
After having it my way in menswear, I finally let my wife have a say. I would like to start wearing things that my wife also likes. (She likes my POW suit and that's it).

How would she know if you never wear the others?

Print is too large to be versatile enough. I mean its a great 5th or 6th jacket but as a first probably not the most ideal.

I know in my personal wardrobe I bought pieces that are not super versatile at first so my suggestion would be start with basics and simple stuff then buy more unique pieces

Not a great first jacket if you will be wearing it with ties. Checks and gunclubs are also not very useful, my conclusion after buying like 3 of them

I look forward to pictures of too tight and too short jackets that make you look like you're dressing 10 years younger than your age... smile.gif

IS it an office dinner or official dinner? If the former, the first or third tie are probably fine. If official, I'd go with something dark and solid. Otherwise I think you are doing great, with the slight exception that if it is an official dinner, I'd probably change to black or dark brown cap or plain toe oxfords if you've got them.
