Good Natured Advice Thread (improving a business wardrobe) - Page 2068

X-posting this here from the quick questions thread, since it didn't get much (any) traction there:

Does anyone have a source for well-made (and preferably OTC) discreetly-patterned socks? I'm looking for something along the lines of tasteful clocking or a herringbone pattern, that would wear will with worsted wool or flannel odd trousers.

Question, I'm still looking for outwear and found a gorgeous. chesterfield on eBay. The lapel gorge is low. I'm wondering if this is as much a factor for outerwear as it is for jackets, as most of my jackets have high gorges, would it look weird or anachronistic?

Several people rave about this site (note the site itself is ugly, but the sock selection is great)

Is it blasphemy to wear boat shoes in fall?

I do. If it's warm enough for shorts, it's warm enough for boat shoes.

I suspect we will have a strong difference of opinion on what "warm enough for shorts" means...

Only with socks or long pents.

Great options, thanks.

That first site might want to consider how it models its socks...

Not cool enough to comfortably wear a jacket.

Two questions- about this jacket

1. I work in a fairly casual setting, button-down w/ chinos with no tie. I'm almost sure that a jacket like this would be no problem in my current work office but i was wondering if it would still be considered appropriate in a less casual setting as well. (would you wear this with a dress shirt & tie? with a blazer?)

2. Do you guys have any alternative options to this jacket, looking for something under 400, i got excited when looking but then realized that the the price listed was for english pounds rather than euros...

Sydney has just sweltered through its hottest early-October week since records began.  37 degrees in the shade today, and midsummer is still some four months away.

The heat wave began precisely on the day I picked up my BnT three-piece Fox flannel suit from Joe. Hence no photos. In the time it would take to set the camera up and be ready to shoot, I would probably already be dead from hyperthermia.

Cooler weather on the way, or so they say.
