Wow, that's ridiculous. A very big chunk of that shipping is "service cost" I take it, because DHL don't charge more than half of that, at most, for 3 ties.
Exactly. I believe Cappelli's €25 charge is acceptable. But €40-50 is stretching it a bit. Then again, I really like the look and quality of their ties.

Some really nice stripe ties from Knottery

@Claghorn, the scale of the stripes on these ones really speak to me

DonRapha do you have any wool-cashmere ties for Cappelli?

None. But I plan on adding 3-5 of them in the near future. Just not sure which ones regarding navy and brown. I discussed the difference between the options at the website with user Tony Montana in the Cappelli thread a while back. I'm inclined to try out some of the smoother looking ones. Although not sure about construction (lining) yet.

Have you tried them, and if so, what's your take on them?

I haven't tried them, but I'm definitely more interested in the textured ones

I could use a textured wool tie in navy for wear with tweed.

Taking inspiration from @NOBD

I believe his tie is Drakes

I could be persuaded to try out the subtle herringbone pattern, but not the more textured pieces as I don't own and probably never will own SCs in tweed. I kind of like the navy and last brown one you linked, but not sure they would pair with the pieces I have in my wardrobe.

EDIT: The last brown you linked seems to be richer brown than the more grey-ish brown I picked out. It may be a better choice, as I come to think about it.

I am surprised by the certainty re brown v burgundy shoes. Actual burgundy (as opposed to something like cherry) is completely unnoteworthy. He's having a med school interview, not one with a bank.

Yeah, me too honestly. Maybe an American thing? Eh whatever, i switched to the burgundy.

Re: pindots
Is a black with white dots considered even more formal or is that clashy with a navy suit? I guess I'm all packed this round, but curious for the next couple.

Welp. Too late now. I didn't really like how they looked when I wore that stuff last time, so this should mix it up. The shoes are pretty dark for a burgundy and I shined them up really well!

Good thing I'll be in a room with a bunch of people wearing square toed shoes, bright shiny ties, pinstripe suits or black suits, and pants that puddle on the floor.

All of them.

I applied to 45, completed applications at 42, have heard back from 10 with 3 interviews and 7 rejections. Still 30 left to go! Hopefully there will be some more movement soon. Blargh!
