Hi gents, this is a pair of 12+ year old Santoni's. Possibly my favourite pair of casual shoes. They have served me well over that period, but as you can see it's about time for them to be replaced. I'd like to find something similar, i.e. suede single monk with norwegian welt. Can anybody here tell me where to get something like this? Thanks!

Vass, Enzo Bonafe would both fit the bill

In Vass, you'd have to MTO and specify

single monk

stitched upper

tobacco suede

I've never seen one on this Forum, but it's def doable.  You could even go the square toe by specifying U-last

Here's a u-last single monk.  Imagine it in suede with a stitched upper and you're there.:slayer:

Square toe is not necessarily a requirement. I've never had Vass and I can't even try them on because they are not available here. I understand Vass sizing can be a bit problematic? Would be quite a risk to go MTO without knowing if they will fit.

I saw these Bonafe's and they look great, but I can't find out if they're available in suede as well:

Both Vass and Enzo you can MTO. Basically if you have a picture of what you want, or something like it, send it to skoak/vass/whoever, and tell them what you'd like different and they can do it for you.

Enzo can make those in suede btw.

Vass sizing -  I'm a 8.5 UK/9.5US in everything.

For F and U last I'm a 42.5

Vass doesn't do that kind of buckle either.  Pretty much everyone takes a punt on Vass sizing.  The U-last is a narrow fit, so for example if you're a 43 you'd prob be safer with 43.5 unless your fit is already quite narrow.

I'm tempted to get a U-last penny loafer in suede :inlove:

That's interesting. The stitching seems different from Vass' standard offer: http://www.vass-cipo.hu/Eng/Modellek_08_Olasz/Modell_08_070_Nagy.html

I just spent 30 minutes looking through Vox's IG. Some of those pics make me want to cry. Hes got such amazing pieces and style.

Does anyone have that pic of his closet? I remember seeing it one time but I forgot what it looked like

Thanks. I think I prefer the "citifiyed" stitching. I'll have to inquire about that along with a shorter and rounder tongue in the future.

Thanks for your input @venividivicibj and @Pliny! Looks like it should be possible to get something very close to what I have in mind. Anybody here with experience with Vass' Norwegian welts? I very much like the Bonafe pic I posted above, just the right scale of stitching. From the limited pics of Vass with Norwegian welts I've found, the stitching on Vass looks quite a lot more coarse, is that correct?

Warning: nerdy shoe stuff (Click to show)
The dress stitching on the vamp isn't 'welt' stitching.  Confusing, I know, because 'Norweger' can refer to a kind of welting, and a kind of moccasin-style upper stitching.  The shoe welt is a strip of (usually) leather that links the upper to the sole.

I have a Vass Norweger (in the middle)

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

and the top stitching is quite thick and coarse compared to your pic. But it  doesn't have to be, it seems:  see Vox's city slip-on.

You can get the longer stich u see where the vamp joins the sole edge from Vass.  They call it Goiserer stitching.  'three-quarter Goiserer' is best IMO
