will does excellent work and is well regarded everywhere. a tad pricey, but worth it for the delicate stuff because you can trust he will not eff up your ish.

Field indeed does great work, but is pricey. Far pricier than NSM or Steed. True you pay for the convenience, but I'd go into it realizing you're not buying a Kent Wang suit.

Are we talking about the cost of alterations or bespoke suits?

I believe they said their bespoke suits start at $3k.

Bespoke.

Their prices must have changed. I was in two years ago (or so) and was told mid-range fabrics started around $4k.

So did you pull the trigger?

$4k is...more than I can handle. I hope it is well worth every penny.

Though my online persona may seem otherwise, I am no big tymer. Don't tell the others.

his alteration work is also on the pricey side, but worth the peace of mind and the result, for adjustments that are delicate or potentially dangerous, imo.

How is Steed pricing? I can't find many threads on them and the ones I do find are from 2011 or 2012 and don't really mention pricing, either.

I know Vox is/was a customer so I am guessing they aren't the most inexpensive around ...

I'd be looking to do a MTM jacket, not a suit. And it definitely does not need to be bespoke. I think they're coming to Boston and I can't find much info on them to see if it's worth my while to check them out while they are here.

They're transparent on pricing on their site. Semi-bespoke sportcoats start at 700 pounds, it says.

I think that's for the fused or half-canvas option (I looked into this for fun). I think they added a fully canvased MTM option, but that was about 1000 pounds? Memory might not be accurate here. It was on their blog, not their site.

That's the treacherous nature of "start" for you.
Last I checked a true bespoke sport coat was around 1500GBP with fabric (so around $2.5k). NSM is around $2k for a jacket.

I will say, if it's over $1,500 for MTM, you may be better served finding a local alternative (depending on what you want/how picky you are).

Doc, Bourbon:

Why all the hate for navy trousers. This is a long standing group think here on SF. I've not been part of it for so long and I want a principle that I should hate. So, someone must have articulated this well somewhere, sometime...
