So those black brogued adelaides might work with a conservative Grey SC/Grey Trouser fit? I'd post what I have in mind but I need to get some light grey pants before I can.

I think that rust tie is cool and could actually see it with the sport coat that you posted; navy or brown would work too. I like it's uncommonness and think that Greg makes a great point that even though it's more of a fall color, it lends itself to some potentially neat low contrast summer-y fits.

@The Noodles did you look at all of the photos of the grey fresco suit or just the one that shows up on the suits or Formosa page. I can see a bit of yellow tinge on the latter, but other than that one the individual photos seem color correct to me.

Thanks Mr. Six...have any pics of the green? I think Greg was talking about the knit (not the one you pictured). I quite like it, and sure, it would work in summer with the right coat. But focusing on more obvious summer ties, color wise, I like the copper donegal that you have in the quote. If I had to pick my top two from the list now, it would be

I really like these Calabrese ties from NMWA. They'd fill some holes, color wise, in my small bunch of ties. I think I'll get them.

I'm thinking about it, and those do seem more like suit ties than SC ties I suppose, aside from maybe the navy SC or other solids. As I don't often wear suits I'm starting to reconsider. I do think they're great ties but as someone who leans heavily towards Sport Coats as opposed to suits I'm probably better off getting a round of solid ties: Chocolate, Midnight Blue, Dark Gray, Burgundy and Forest Green would probably be a better move for me right now.

edit: Or maybe I'm over thinking it...

Thanks Prof

If you don't have solids and wear patterned SCs, then you should get solids over these. The small neats won't work as well.

Again, not that I'm an authority, but you could take the no small neats with SCs as advice and not as a norm. With a navy SC, they might work well. But for shepherds/gun checks, I'd say no: too many small scale patterns clash.

You might try stripes and solids first, then larger scale patterns (cf. my fit a few posts back, shepherd's check and stripes).

Perhaps you can pick your top 3 coats and post? People can make suggestions.

This question pops up here regularly. Typically I do … others do, others don't. I really like BB's but they are a bit big for me. I've tried Uniqlo, but the quality is just okay. Nice high armholes though. IIRC, Hanes got the most recs here for those who wear them.
