Good Natured Advice Thread (improving a business wardrobe) - Page 1588

Noodles - The three Formosas are a good start, but you are wearing the crap out of your beaters and you wear a suit 6 days a week. You've made a bunch of comments about wanting / needing new suits and have gone back and forth between SuitSupply, Kent Wang, Formosa, B&T, etc. and that does make you sound a bit indecisive. People make bad purchases when they don't have a good plan (e.g. buying overpriced stuff that doesn't fit you at NM that results in you not having money to buy enough good suits to get you through the week). My concern is that you'll end up buying something else, not liking it and selling it for 50 cents on the dollar on B&S at best.

Definitely get braces, Noodz!

These were a pretty inexpensive pair from Lands End I got on ebay - and you'll find plenty of other braces there too. BB and Polo/RL on ebay have looked decent. Shibumi guys make nice ones too it seems if you're not into the idea of buying pre-owned or from ebay in general.

Noodles if you have trouser issues you should go bespoke through Salvatore Ambrosi. His trousers are fucking amazing. You will never buy off the rack trousers again.

Just get a few pair of trousers and then MTO the Formosa SC in the same cloth and you have a full suit...

Uhh what is ambrosi's price point?

Also, do you really want to recommend he go bespoke? I think you need more knowledge of what you really want and like before you should go bespoke.

$1250..

Just go with the standard cut and decide whether you want belt loops, side-adjusters, or braces...

Since noodles wants good break and good fit I'd recommend braces...and makes sense since he wears a suit all day and e nobody will see them under the jacket.

Once you are in a pair of his trousers...you will never want to wear anything else ever. They're phenomenal.

You say that...but once you put on a pair of his trousers...you will throw those 5 otr's in the trash and never look back. They are that good.

$1250 for bespoke and less than $200 for subsequent pairs via Luxire.

Not a bad deal considering you can get perfect pairs of pants going forward if that's what noodles crave.

I dont think I could ever justify spending that much money on pants. I barely spend that much on sportcoats. I can understand there are a lot of people out there that could or would spend that kind of money but to me it seems excessive.

Just my .02

I dont doubt they are fantastic but to me unnecessary

I won't defend them anymore. If they are out of your budget...that's reasonable.

But they are the best trousers I have ever worn...solely based on fit...all other things aside.

SVB - I am fine with 1 and 2, not 3.

cakv - I am sorry but I don't know the answer to that. : (

I hope I didnt make it seem like its stupid. Its just not necessary for me. Maybe some point in the future they could be something I try but I dont foresee myself wearing/trying pants at that price for another 5-10 years. I am very happy with my current trouser choices

I actually posted that before I saw your post...it wasn't targeted at you alone...
