Why isn't there an SF app? Take a pic, boom post it on SF in large size without going desktop mode on your phone. Alerts? Boom, it pops up on your phone. Someone PMs you, someone quotes you, boom you get a notification. @LA Guy

Been waiting for this.

Because it takes a lot of time and money to build a good app, and we gotta figure out what, other than notifications, there should be.  Also, we are not in charge of the platform development.  But this is on the roadmap as someone we are def going to build, and hopefully earlier rather than later.  Mos def.  I've been lobbying for this for a while now.

How many people are involved with this site? Is this public information? Just curious as to the business side of things.

It's not public information, but briefly, we have a few full time employees, employ about a dozen freelancers on a contract basis, as well as a ton of support, sales, and development people with our strategic partners.

I never knew this website did big enough business to have full time employees. That's pretty cool.

Thanks for the response. I figured that was the reason. If I knew anything about building apps, I would pitch in but I only know how to count beans.

I would love to see it happy by the end of the year.  The truth is, that yes, you can make something quick and throw it up, but then... fixing things is a lot harder than doing it right the first time.  There will be things missing/stupid anyway, but we'd like to minimize those.  I've been told it's on the roadmap.

I only know how to talk.

I think SF has one of the best mobile layouts online right now

Except you can't give, or see, thumbs.

You can definitely give thumbs

Thread Starter

You can give thumbs and upload pictures pretty easily. Only minor qualm is that you have to resize pictures as the default is the smallest setting (which is an odd choice for default since everyone wants 'em big)

You can't see thumbs. For something that is such a big part of the social experience here I would have thought that would be included.

The only thing good about SF is the content and the members. The platform sucks, both desktop and mobile. Usabilty and UX/UI design are far below average.

@Claghorn

Is San Antonio a walking city? Is there uber? What the heck is the city famous for?

Also, does everyone speak with an accent and a gun?

Thanks.  The truth is that there are tons of websites out there that have a ton of potential, but are held back by poor management, or more commonly, lack of motivation/ability on the side of the owners.  I have a stake in a couple of others, and am always looking for other sites that can be acquired and developed.
