I might wear some of my more obscure pieces once a year, maybe less. The way I am it is worth more to have it available for that one time, than to get 100 bucks out of it. This isn't always true of the stuff I own, but it often is. That's just the way I am and that will probably not change much.

WEAR YOUR CLOTHES ALL THE TIME GODDAMMIT!

In reality, yeah, there are a few special/fun items that are probably like that, no? Opera pumps/tuxes/lucky interview tie. etc.

I.e. you need xyz other thing in order to create utility.

A. Not sunk cost fallacy unless the original purchase (and the perceived loss of parting with it) is the justification for future purposes
B. Not a description of CMs situation

Neither. One of my favorite scenes from the show (which I've not watched in close to a decade). For some reason, the timing/delivery there has always stuck with me.

It didn't. It's a subtle point, but the reason I don't part with stuff I wear rarely isn't because of the perceived loss of money, it's because the value of what I could get for it is not greater than the value I place on being able to use it once in a while. Once or twice a year I really feel like wearing white bucks. I could probably sell the ones I have for $50 since they were rarely used, but that $50 is not worth more to me than having a pair that I can wear on the rare occasion I want to. I can't really explain it any better without belaboring the point. Which I think I may already have done, lol.

Sunk. Cost. Fallacy.

Also, if you can claim value, I'm sure there's more of it from Formosa and drakes than from Prada and Hermes.

Google "Used Prada Saffiano" or "Used Hermes Sac a Depeche"

Google 'outliers'.

It's like saying a rolex is an investment. Yeah, some used Aldens sell for more than new ones due to scarcity. Does that mean I should go buy all the shell aldens I can afford with my savings?
