Good Natured Advice Thread (improving a business wardrobe) - Page 152

Derbies are generally not worn with suits. Oxfords are considered more formal. But you can get away a derby if you want.

Why not get a two or three pairs while you're up there???? YOU HAVE FRICKIN $4k to spend!!!!

I suggest

-Black laceup
-Proper brown laceup (enough with that Gucci and RLBL crap!!!!)
-Wingtip (like that cardigan, or you can buy it's leather soled sibling, the C&J for RL Marlow, when it goes on Private Sales for $600)

Blowing $4k a month or two before the wedding might not be so wise. All expenditures on clothing is on hold, except my Hanes at Target. After the wedding, I'll buy the mrs a nice purse or something and clothes and shoes and more clothes, and maybe Hanes for her too.

Dang~

are my RLBL derbies that bad?!

Derbies vs oxford

to a commoner like me, they just look the same and I just cannot figure out what makes an Oxford more formal.

Again, I will never buy another derby, next time it will be an oxford or oxfords.

Thoughts?

I think there are better ties on there, but I like the wool houndstooth tie!

Rudals, for gods sake, get some black captoes. Just buy the meermins, they look great and are well made. They're cheap too, so you can see whether you actually like them. I'll post a pic of mine tomorrow.

Well the RLBL's are bad because they don't fit you.

Derby's are NOT bad. I repeat, NOT BAD.

They're more for sportcoats. Oxfords are for suits.

Those are fine Noodles. Made by Sassetti in Italy

But $1250 retail???!??! You can get a much better deal for that.

Or wait for them to go on sale for $400-500
