If doodals is going MTM why not go KW? He gets sent a base suit and adjust measurements from there, also lapel with and button stance. He can post pics here and get advice/suggestions before getting his final suit.

I'm the first to champion spending money within the family, but I think the in person experience is essential here, so I throw my vote behind SS mtm over KW mtm.

Noodles, since you have money to burn with that huge NM refund (wasn't it like 3k?), why not go big with bespoke?

(Chan, BNTailor, even NSM, etc)

I'm a little hesitant to go with KW MTM because there's no human measuring you. You don't have the right sense of fit yet.

Easing into bespoke is the way to go. There are reasons beyond financial ones that I waited this long to start going to tailors in the 2k range...I just wasn't ready.

Speaking of, any concrete plans for that fabric you purchased?

This coat is a little generously cut, no?

I don't see any shape to it.

It's a bit tight at the chest and waist actually. Can't wear it with thick ties or I get an X at the button.

Dang it that refund took forever to hit my checking account because I activated a new card and the refund was in No Man Walks Alone zone. Glad to finally get, and for your information, it is $4,000. I cant do $hit with it because my wedding has been pushed up 3 months and my wedding will be at end of next month.

I may go to see this. Trailer is quite interesting, if you're interested http://www.museumoflondon.org.uk/london-wall/whats-on/exhibitions-displays/the-anatomy-of-suit/

I think this link has been shared elsewhere here, apologies, but just out of interest too http://menoftheclothfilm.com It's the passion that I like. Good trailer

This is the ideal of the first type (I say that because I own it):

and this is a nice example of the second:

... but I'd suggest going for OCBDs first, since they cover a bit more ground.

I REALLY like that second one. I've got a rough idea of what to look for now. Thanks for the primer!
