Never much cared for national, racial, or gender stereotypes myself, but to each his own, I suppose ...
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I ended up being caught up in one part of London the entire Saturday so wasnt able to get across to Suit Supply, but I was passing today and dropped in...
Wasnt wowed by the selection in 40L, but I found a plain navy suit (York Blue Plain) which I tried on. It fitted me WELL. It was a little long in the sleeve, a tiny bit loose around the midsection, and the trousers were marginally too wide, but these were minor concerns. When I pointed them out to the shop assistant he tended to agree, and he pinned it to my liking. I was borderline mindblown at having found a suit that fits, after many unsuccessful attempts in the past. Thank you, everyone, for your suggestions and for urging me to try out Suit Supply. I bought the suit, and will be returning some time next week to get the trousers finished/taken up.
I will take a look at a charcoal grey suit next time Im in there. But does anyone know if the suits they have in store are all they have available? The suits on the red and wooden hangers seemed to be a bit too flashy for a first suit, or even for office wear in general. I plan on getting at least one more suit from Suit Supply, but once I've picked up my navy suit I plan on checking out ties, shoes, and shirts elsewhere. I am now extremely excited for these items, especially shoes...
Finally, photos. I got my friend to take three, but made the mistake of not checking them out until after we'd left the shop. They were so blurred as to be hardly visible. I will get him to send me them anyway, and if after seeing them on a bigger screen they are even vaguely worthwhile I will put them up here
Check out the website. They have free shipping and free returns. Super efficient. Not much in the way of York though. Did you try on any other models? Next time you're there, I suggest trying on each model (regardless of whether the piece itself is of interest) to see if it fits. Take a picture for reference of each that works for you (fit wise). Going forward, this makes it easy to order things from the online store (assuming you don't entirely go the MTM route).
I'm assuming you got:
Also, I'm not exactly sure how their MTM program works, but I think they generally base an outfit off one of their pre-existing patterns. If York works for you, you'd want to see about using it for the MTM route, allowing you to pick out your own fabric for it.
How does it go on the tie front?
That's the one.
The free shipping etc. is great, but Id then have to get my alterations done somewhere else, right?
I will check out their made to measure. I tried on one other, need to check my phone notes for the name of that. Fit was good, but disliked the colour (too blue, too flashy).
As for ties... I haven't tried any yet, as I was waiting on the suit situation, but I'm all fired up now.
