Dover in 606 is awesome, that's what I have. They are great on other lasts, but 606 is my fave.

Not a bad last at all, Clags, but not awe inspiring enough for a theoretical one shoe for me.

The 348, oddly enough, is the CJ last that does not hurt my feet.

The Dovers on the 606 are delectable.

We have very different shoe last tastes though. I prefer the GG 71 and 73, and the Vass U, and the Carmina Simpson.

My one shoe, if I had to, might be...

AppleMark

Or Dover, or ....

I would like to clarify for my main man Steeeeeeeeeeches that I am speaking only of a OneSuede™, not a true OneShoe™ (which I couldn't do, not even theoretically).

I'm looking for one pair of midweight, grey trousers. Which of these shades of grey is most versatile?

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Get them in wool. The middle seems most versatile, although it looks like it's not a true grey colour.

Quite right mate, there's always something else....

Thank you, as always, for the excellent opinions. I've definitely seen some very nice suede shoes in this thread. I'm sure I will eventually own a couple different varieties but, for now, I just need to narrow it down to one so I can be practical (no fun).

C&J Connaught suede seems like it would be an excellent no nonsense suede One Shoe. Or at least First Shoe.

I have several pairs of suede shoes, but the one I find myself reaching for most often is the Edward Green Mercer, a dark brown single monkstrap. Goes with everything from jeans to a navy suit.

I have these from Meermin:

They're not all that spectacular compared to some of the others posted and Meermin's quality control is notoriously spotty, but they're great for the price. I like mine.

The same dark brown Carmina Rain adelaide I posted is currently available in 8.5UK and 9.5UK from Steve @ gentlemansfootwear.

Navy/Red looks badass with tan cotton/linen for summer...and ofc can be worn with other things too.
