Please define "gun play" in this instance.

Thanks, Stitchy.  Much appreciated.   Very fortunate they take after Mrs. NS1.

I took copious notes on this discussion for when my three girls are high school age and dating.  At the top of my notes, in bold letters and underlined three times, is Caustic Man's suggestion to leave an assault rifle leaning against the coffee table for when would-be suitors come to the house.

Note to self, if she ends up walking down the isle toward him, teach him to shoot in case you have granddaughters.

@TM79 et al, here's a full (albeit poorly lit) pic of the Eidos glen plaid.  It reads as darker (a greyish brown) than it appears in both this pic and in Marc's a couple of pages back.  Fabric is Fratelli di Delfino and has amazing depth.  Really glad I took the plunge.  Also: do I recall correctly that Antonio dropped the armhole just a hair on this season's (F/W 2014) Tipo?  This one fits spot on perfect, and feels much less constricting than my S/S 2014 Tipo, also from Bloomies.  Could just be perception, though.

All: pairings.  My initial read says Oxford gray or a warmish brown trousers.  I think the jacket will actually read differently depending on the trouser pairing.

For ties, gray wool, burgundy, black knit, what else?

Hmm... you are slowly selling me on it!

I don't like the whole northern lights look too much so I like that you said it appears darker than the pic Marc sent to me.

Beautiful, helden! Wool and knit ties in various colours I'd say: navy, green, rust etc. If you're more adventurous, try a lighter, greyish blue wool tie, that might work too.

I imagine you're also not going to be visiting the Democratic People's Republic...although you could probably land some snappy military-inspired tailoring there...

It seems a bit bright as blues go and herringbone + dots might be too much, so I'm passing. Still, for your consideration...

IME: barney's ties tend to be a little darker than in their stock photos.
