While the "get both" mantra of SF is often more amusing than useful, I think having shoes in both black and brown is an exception (unless you plan to never wear a suit).

Steve, the Vass suede captoes from NMWA are pretty much perfection. As are the GG St. James or SJ II, in polo suede. Check BE to see if they have your size on sale.

I'd go with the suede wingtips on the F last....unless he is my size because I'm about to order them. I know you will say go captoe U last because you a square toe ho....that should be your new custom title.

My brown to black ratio is 11 to 1. I don't even own black balmorals!

U last is without question the best way to go on that shoe. Thats why Greg uses it for his stock on that shoe.

My black shoe collection consists of:

1. Black punch capped Carminas on the Simpson last.
2. Black stitched toe G&Gs on the 06 last.
3. Black DMs (These are actually in the works, not arrived yet. They are replacing the black DMs that Southwest lost ffffuuuu.gif )

Again, thanks for the input fellas. I do think at some point I should get a pair in both a dark brown (chukka) and a lighter brown (oxford). Was just looking through the Vass pairs on NMWA. Murl, I am a 42 and actually do prefer the cap toe over the wingtip on the site.

Skoak has a couple of nice Carminas too. The BE sale, is this only on select pairs and sizes? I got to the end of the checkout but didn't see any discount applied..and then got scared off.

I love the cap toe....I was just messing with Stitch. It's a great makeup.

In that case, what is your black shoe?  I currently have two pair: black captoes, and an old pair of black chelsea boots that make great beaters in bad weather.

This might be better suited for the Vass appreciation thread, but do you guys go with the same size in F and U lasts? What I believe to be my correct size in the F last - a 42 - is borderline tight in the toe box.

I size up a half size from F to U (lol). If the F is already snug you are almost surely going to need to size up a half size to the U last. Greg told me its pretty standard that people need a half size up from the F last to the U last.

Holy macroni! I have a Ssex Fifth gift card for $xxx and cannot find anything!

Someone help me out!

Happens to me like twice a year. Those cards are useless. The one time I actually used one was to buy a zip neck RL sweater that was on crazy sale, and then I had Spoo sell it for like twice the amount of the gift card I used to buy it.

Maybe buy some socks?

Gosh darn it! I divorced myself from all the brand names for good reasons and now it is hard to pull the trigger on any of these stuff. Who buys these stuff?!

I have spent probably about 4 hours browsing their website and can't justify any purchases.

Socks? I would have to buy like 100 socks to empty out this gift card. :censored:

This is all I can muster.

And then some crazy stuff...

Do you have a link? Maybe a GNAT team effort is needed.

BTW, is Ssex Fifth the name of a store? puzzled.gif

Edit. Just realized you probably mean Saks. Wow, that site sure packs some overpriced crap.
