Good Natured Advice Thread (improving a business wardrobe) - Page 1138

I think I'm going with the hopsack. I'll probably have the trousers made too. I wanted to get something more interesting, but I have @gdl203 New Years wishes stuck in my mind..."to replacing every single piece of mediocre clothing in our closet with a better and more exciting version". I have a mediocre navy SC, this one would be much better and way more exciting.

Thanks for the input guys.

Your added color makes me think the hopsack is indeed the best decision for you. Congrats!

Its not a bad PS, per say, just not my jam.

Great news about the trousers!

Hopsack being the last pic in the first post? Great choice. Also smart to get the pants made while you are at it.

Also, when I started getting stuff from Panta my knee-jerk reaction to find something more interesting, but in the end it was the most sensible to go with more basic colors that had great texture or character than some crazy awesome FU pattern. Maybe down the road, but at the start, you will get the most out of your commissions when you choose stuff that is versatile and can be worn often. Good luck!!

Opinions on HY pants. I am looking for some comfortable winter trousers.

I am hoping if someone could offer advise on sizing as well.

JFrat, that's one of your better combos. And I dig the square, but I'm more at home with festive squares than Stitchy.

You gotta get some more wool trousers. Now I'm super biased as I never wear cotton with jacket, but even pretending I'm not, I'd say the perfect ration of wool to cotton to linen is 6:3:1.

You sent me some nice Rotas to look at, but how are you on staple wools? Those should take priority over those flecked Rotas

I'd go for either of the two flannel pants. They're also good value. Made in Italy will be pretty trim, and most size up. Made in USA is a more relaxed cut, but not too full. They should have measurements on the site so you can compare to your tailored Formosa pants.

Awesome. I will make sure I get the MADE IN ITALY ones in the right size.

Thanks

This.

You really need to check the measurements carefully tho. I am a no go, sadly, for HY. The USA cut is too billowy for me in my size, and the Italy too trim. : (

I have pretty much no wool trousers apart from suits and a dark grey flannel brooks brothers and dark grey/green Brioni. Can you make some recommendations (online shops and styles) - options in physical stores are really non-existent here.

Need help with odd jackets to go with light grey flannel pants.

I hope the Havana fits like Lazios.

Noodles, make sure you order just one for starters. See the HY thread for issues with the company. Returns have been dicey, with no communication with Jamison.

That said, I've ordered two of the on sale pants recently and they were shipped two-day shipping within two days of the order. So Jamison is sending stuff out; returns have been trickier. I've not had problems, and indeed had a recent exchange with him by email!

Please compare sizing side by side with your best trousers (e.g. your Formosas), and then start with a staple mid gray, one shot. If they fit, you're set. If they don't, you probably will have to sell them here in B&S, though they will go fast.

USA fit works for me. It would be nicer if tapered in the thigh but if it fits, then you look like Vox (see the shot in the HY thread of a recent user in light gray hopsack trousers...almost perfect).

Yep, that's the one. Sadly, I don't think I'll be getting the paints. My waist size comes with a 9.6" rise...that doesn't appeal to me. Still pumped about the jacket though.

Noodles, I have a bunch of HY pants in both cuts. They are great pants...sadly the guy that runs the business hadnt been so great lately. Order with caution...lots of people have had trouble wih returns over the last couple years.

Light gray flannels are so easy to pair. Enjoy them.

2, 3 or 4, preferably 3 with a razor-sharp crease and 5-6cm cuffs. (6cm because fuck you.) 2 and 4 have funky, iGent textures which are glorious but may then limit your SC deployment.
