What's the best way to clean out your closet? Has anyone gotten rid of five suits in a short period?

Don't bad-mouth your suits if you're going to put them for sale, it turns off potential buyers and attracts a lot of low ball offers. Ebay may be your best bet at the moment either selling directly or through a consignee (cuts your margins though, but does all the work). Or simply donate them to charity and declare it on your tax forms.

Actually I thought the response was fairly restrained, considering how disruptive he was. He may not have expected the response he got initially, but rather than take a hint, he continued to blather on. He subsequently acknowledged and apologized for his transgressions, and apology was accepted.

Some senior members, Claghorn for one, were actually quite patient, giving him the benefit of the doubt throughout most of it. I think it was a fair exchange.

Yup. When I was having my picnic attqcks about navy on navy, I believe Clags was quite patient with me. He's a really nice dude in person too. Anyhow, I needed so much help that he created this thread and invite people to learn or contribute. Thanks for the shirts by the way.

Kopped my long-awaited Henry Carter wool challis tie the other day in the mail. 3-fold unlined, Italian fabric. This was a small run, already sold out, very exclusive yah.

Posting it here because I don't think I quite nailed the fit (shirt and jacket don't work together), but I'd like to share the awesomeness of this tie anyway.




Will post a fit to WAYWRN once I get my shirt/jacket game sorted. This could prove a dangerous piece of kit if the rumoured soporific-tie-challenge

goes ahead.

I'm far from a thread regular, but somebody I think of as pretty insightful (forget who, of course) once pointed out that most striped shirts tend to look a bit businesslike.* I'm not sure I'd take it that far, especially given how much I like striped OCBDs, but I do think that kind of shirt is almost universally better with a worsted suit than with a casual jacket.

I love every individual piece here, and I think the square/tie/coat are worth doing again, but even a solid light blue (or perhaps cream) shirt would be better here. I'm trying to figure out small-scale light blue gingham with tan checked flannel myself (somebody posted an amazing example in WAYWT recently), but I'm not sure if there's a trick to it.

*I guess I think of them as perfect for a white linen square -- so if a white linen square wouldn't sing, then that kind of shirt won't either.

Agree with you on nearly all points YRR92 - although I think this shirt can be made to work with a carefully-chosen odd jacket; just not this jacket.

Which is why I didn't post it in WAYWRN.

I think the same would work with an appropriately refined herringbone.

I dont think they can replicate the soul of Korea though. Oh wait, it's just the smell of korea. My inlaws stuffed them in with anchovies, seaweed, etc.

Murl, just keep that (blqnk) for just couple more weeks. I is will get it fo sho.
