Good Natured Advice Thread (improving a business wardrobe) - Page 918

So I just got my suit back from the tailor. Bespoke piece @in sitches and a few others tilted my mind into getting (brown). I got a tweed vest with it, and overall I'm loving the combo (pics soon no worries). BUT...there was some confusion on my order between the tailor and myself. We had discussed side tabs, then the utility of using the trousers as seperates (birdseye heavier weight wool) and we got a little crossed up. End result, I have loops  on the trousers. The tailor has offered to modify them to sidetabs...question: should I run the risk of the faux pas of belt loops + vest but have a bit more utility as far as the trousers are concerned or should I take them back in to switch to side tabs.

Note that for work and whatnot, I won't be wearing the vest most of the time. Got as more  of a casual piece.

Get side tabs. All of my MTM trousers have side tabs regardless of wether they're casual or not. I don't see side tabs as being more or less formal than belt loops.

I like wearing belts so I'd leave the loops on, have the tailor add buttons for braces, and wear the trousers belt-less but with braces when I wore the vest. That's what I've done with my MTM suits.

Lets go around the room and take a quick poll. Keep or sell? I have a potential buyer.

Sell, but make sure you have enough suits to wear to work.

Sell. It doesn't fit you. At all. Measurements you took are proof.

You could continue wearing it to work as MF suggests, but it still doesn't fit you.

@Mr. Six that's a brilliant idea. The turnaround would be a lot quicker and it keeps options open. You don't find the braces get a bit tight and tangled with the vest though?

You're getting the hang of it: sell, sell, sell, then buy, buy, buy!
