Mimo, if you had any experience with Koreans, you'd know the answer is far more simple. Edit: on second thought, I like your implication much more.

Butch, I'm surprised you only have 50. It appears that I underestimated your mental soundness.

My wife is asleep, and I think she would not appreciate my coming in and turning on the lights to count my ties. I'm going to estimate 50 unquestionably wearable ties. Maybe more?

go count now.

id say i have probably 70 total, 60 that i would say are in the regular rotation and 10 that i have not worn forever but keep for sentimental reasons.

Gorgeous.

indeed!

I'm also shocked that you have so few Stitchy. Though I guess you're obsessed with all around koppage, whereas I mostly just focus on ties.

I am not sure how many I have. There are a few relics of yesteryear that are with most of my stuff in storage waiting to move house. But in the mean time, I have a tie rack that holds thirty ties. When I get a new one, I take one bad one out and put it in the charity pile. So at present there are twenty nine and one cravat on the rack, considered "live", and six bow ties in a separate place. So, I suppose that makes thirty-five, excluding the cravat, with the potential to bring others back into service.

Really? I thought that was a lot. How many would you expected?

Also, I like to be able to wear the things that I have bought. Considering that I do not wear a tie every day, and the amount that I have, I only get to wear each one maybe a few times a year. I really would not want to wear them any less than that.

I think so. Some of those are gone and there've been many additions.

I don't know if we should do it in this thread or not, but it would be cool for people to post pictures of their full tie collections.

Lord knows mine has. Used to be all Thomas Pink. Now I think I have one or two of those left, the rest given away. I think I've spent northward of 5 grand in the last 12 months on ties alone.

I just love ties. I'm happy having ties I wear once a year. This probably makes me a crazy person.

Edit: I'm at 90 SF approved...with about 10 Thomas Pink/Hugo Boss/Brooks Brothers type stuff left over

Clag,
the Mrs called and said she wishes that you would spend less money on ties and more time and money on her.

Dang, you guys are serious. I have ties and I can count them with my fingers! I have suits and I can count all of them with my fingers. I have shirts and I can count them with my fingers. I have shoes and I can count them with my fingers. Counting with your fingers might be a bad thing when you're an accountant. But you guys just take things to the next level with 50 to 100 ties?! Holy macaroni and cheese!

I tried to buy her a bag recently and she told me to spend the money on myself. Hence the trip to B&Tailor. I'm working in 13 day shifts, with two days off a month. More ties!

That being said, I feel as though I've reached critical mass. I'm very happy with what I own. These last few days, I've not felt the need to peruse the internet for ties. I have a brown jacket a week away from being done and a mid blue just getting started. I can't imagine what else I'd need or even want. Trousers at some point, but that's really it.

You need to grow a pair! Or at least stop telling other people to stop spending on ties. :D
