Good Natured Advice Thread (improving a business wardrobe) - Page 749

Yeah. I know you're right, but most of the dubmonks I've seen are so polished looking that they trend more into formal IMHO. I'm not a big fan of single monks, but I think some look good. That shoe just doesn't look like my cuppa, which is totally cool.

I was just trying to think of what that shoe does that another shoe wouldn't do better and I can't really think of it.

It's all about the suede wingtip boots for the C&J Fall release.

Just stay away from those dubs in general, rtc. peepwall[1].gif

I didn't buy them. I'll hold out. I really don't need more shoes right now. I just got suede chukkas at a great price.

Pics of the C&J boots @Murlsquirl?

I saw this fabric I really liked and wanted to make into an SC:

But I'm starting to worry it might not be that versatile or usable. What trousers would you pair it with? I am thinking white/off white trousers and dark denim for sure, but what about say brown corduroy? fawn moleskin? Those are some I have that I thought would work but I'm not too sure. I have an olive moleskin as well that I think may work, maybe I am worrying too much.

All of the above, it's beautiful.

The drop, but the hook is going strong.

@Isolation, you are right that it is not super versatile. That said, it looks lovely and if you have your basics covered, I am sure it could make a nice addition to your wardrobe. I think several of the combinations you suggest could work. As long as you are cool with it not being something you can wear all the time, you'll be able to find things to pair it with. Perhaps hold off if you are still at a point where versatility is really important, but otherwise go nuts.

Yeah I think a bold check/windowpane type jacket is something I'm missing and this one is quite nice/tasteful so seems like a good pick up to see how I like them.

I am going to Hong Kong later this week (first visit) and have been looking at the thread on HK tailors. I wondered if any of you gentlemen have any advice on shopping more generally there? Thanks.

Uniqlo is so cheap I bought so much underwear and chinos (white ones for 79 HKD). What type of shopping you looking at?

It's gorgeous.  All the combinations you mentioned would work, but I think the joy you'll find in this is that you can go with white trousers for fun and laid back, or darker and muted colours for a more autumnal look, and be brilliant either way.  It really is a beautiful looking piece of cloth. Do it!
