Noodlers, need some tie advice.  What about this Henry Carter grenadine with a white/light blue semi-spread collar and a navy suit for weddings and other festive but more formal events?

Hmm, possible, good catch. Still, doesn't seem like Holmes is the type to wear that sort of thing.

Not ad of yet. Still thinking on it. I really like it a lot, and I loved the fit. Would need to shorten the cuffs tho.

That was not what I read. Had something to do with keeping track of the coat or identifying it quickly, iirc.

Not sure if this matters, but the coat is not really an overcoat, it's more of a raincoat/fall weather coat. It's an 80% cotton 20% cupro twill.

I think such a coat would be odd as a DB, especially as I imagine I would often wear it open over a sweater or something.

Raincoat is odd as a DB? That's....definitely not right. DB raincoat is iconic.

stitch, just get a Barbour quilt or waxed cotton, and call it a day.

I need to get this off my chest: I don't care for the waxed cotton.

There. I said it.
