Converse Jack Purcell fit true to size?

I was reading some posts and some people said that Jack Purcells should be half a size bigger than the Converse All-stars. However, I went to try out a pair today and that wasn't the case for me. In fact, the ideal size for the Jack Purcells are the same as the Chucks for me. Size 8 Purcells fit my feet like a glove while size 8.5 Purcells is about one inch too long. The funny thing is that the width for both the 8 and 8.5 is just right and the difference is just the length.

I kind of like the extra inch that the 8.5 provides, but it's not a perfect fit. What would you guys do? Get the 8 or the 8.5?

I think you know the answer then. Everyone's feet are different. Some people might be in between sizes or right on a certain size so sizing down varies from person to person. Get the shoes that fit you best. I think i only sized down .5 for chuck all stars because i'm between 10.5 and 11 so i probably would be a 10.5 in jack purcell(although i've never tried them on).

lol I realize that this may have been a stupid post, but I just wanted to weigh in on this subject. Like I have said, I don't think the rule of going up half a size would help for most people.

However, I asked if I should get the 8.5 or not since there seems to be an inch or so more space for my toes. Surprisingly the width on both pairs are fine, but the length ain't. I'm tempted to go for the perfect fit on the size 8, but I've always had shoes in which there is some space for my toes.

Converse themselves recommend going up half a size from Chucks. Why? Because MOST of their customers have to go up half a size. Just because you don't have to, doesn't make it incorrect.

You misread my post. I clearly said that I don't think it applies to most people. This does not imply that their rule is completely false.

Chucks are sized weirdly, I think because their sizes were standardized a really long time ago. I would have to size down a whole size in Chucks to 10 (I don't have any but I've tried them on). Purcells are sized just a bit smaller than Chucks. I go down .5 size in Purcells, to 10.5 (I'm usually an 11 in sneakers). So I think the rule holds true.

does anyone find Purcell scrap your achilles for fit size? I guess I am accustomed to wearing sneakers that has padding all round.

They feel fine to me, and I got the snugger size of the two I could have taken. I'm used to dress shoes though.

Do you have chucks? I usually say go half size up on your chuck size for Purcells.

I don't even know what my real shoe size is anymore. I thought for the longest time that I was a 10 or 10.5, back when I was in high school and buying big puffy athletic or skate shoes. Then I started getting some dress shoes at size 9 and 8.5 that fit perfectly, and my Purcells are 9.5. I think I'm usually a size 9, but I'm not too sure.

Shoe sizes are pretty messy.

I am guessing you meant to say scrape rather than scrap? Am i correct? If so, yes.
