Nominating user @books and tweed for this Hermès trunk... if it's full of Dior dresses it'll be even more of a jaw-dropper.

Pulled this out of the garage on an estate I'm helping to appraise. I've worked out through context that they were bought in the early 30s and used for frequent trips between Paris and New York by sea.

I got the lock opened today (after some idiot heir connected to the estate tried to pry it open), but it feels like a hidden deadbolt is keeping it shut. The trunk was labeled 'Dior dresses' so we're rather excited to get it open. Oldest Hermes (freres era) thing I've personally found.

Not to be a dick I'm stoked on the find but I don't think something you see at an estate sale you are helping to appraise counts as a thrift, especially not for the cheapies
He would at least have to own them...

Didn't realize it wasn't his property.

Yeah, I'm working for the estate and posted it here because I knew you would all be interested and enjoy seeing it. Sorry if I didn't make it clear enough that it wasn't thrifted, but I'll post more about what's inside for the sake of interest if the estate's okay with it.

nominating.

Wanted to wait until I received payment to brag about this.

I thrifted these at the end of last year, and they've been sitting in my closet wrapped in plastic only because I thought they were cool to own.  My girlfriend and I just moved in together and while I was organizing our spare bedroom, I unpacked them and thought "screw it."  Created the BIN listing at 4:56 PM yesterday; they were snatched up before 5:30 PM.  I've been keeping an eye on similar listings over the past 6 months, and I priced them extremely aggressively in my opinion.

So why are those Levis so expensive? Just due to their age/rarity?

Btw everytime I thrift now I b- line it to mens jackets and check the gold buttons first. Thanks Obama!

I was serious. I knew he had a Ferrari. I didn't know he thrifted it. Edit just read the article. I was under the impression that he bought it off ebay or traded for it when you said he thrifted it. I misunderstood.
