So, I'm considering making the plunge into premium denim. I don't know what the hell to buy. My only real criterion: they can't be ultra skin tight. I like a more comfortable fit. Any recommendations for the Connie Man? Discuss.

I like the look of PBJ 005's I've seen on others even though I don't own a pair. They look flattering, slim leg but aren't to skinny and you can wear 'dressed up' or casual. I think I might get them next.

Another good start for raw denim is the Eternal 811/Studio D'Artisan 103 I think, they have a pretty nice slim cut but still more than another room to breath. Most people I know refer to mine as 'skinny leg' jeans when people around here would refer to them as being to loose, so it's a matter of perspective. A little lower in the waist then others to.

Nudie RRs are along those lines of fit also, I think they have a more casual look and can end up a bit baggy, I wouldn't wear them to a club etc.

I'm surprised you've been around so long and don't have a pair, or haven't read enough 'raw denim LOL' threads to make your nose bleed yet.

I'm currently wearing Dior 21cm's, they take some getting used to with the ridiculous length of the hem but I'd buy them again in a second.

List some real criterion. Everyone says "JUST NOT TOO TIGHT LOLZ" and then rejects 99% of suggestions

I would have to go with the gateway jean... APC NS, or potentially Rescue.

I consider APC NS a slim to regular fit jeans as far as internet standards go even if you size down 2.

PBJ 005 are not for people asking for not too tight jeans if they've never had them before.

It's too bad Ande Whall doesn't do jeans at the moment because cougars would be perfect.

For jeans i'd say:
APC New Standards sized down 1 or 2(they stretch to a relaxed fit even if sized down 2)
5ep Straight Down
Nudie Regular Ralph Dry Selvage
Nudie Straight Sven Dry Selvage

All decently priced(if you look in the right places) are slimish and never would be confused for tight or skinny and are pretty well cut raw jeans. What brian said though, better detail would help.

Call Mauro at the Denim Bar and use the 30% off sale. He can give you a solid reccomendation based on your size/ what you are looking for.

I'd definitely size down 2 in NS. I don't think 1 size would be enough. I agree that sized down 2 they still give a relaxed fit -- for me 3 is really right, and I'm not a tight jeans kind of guy.

I disagree. If op is new to dry denim and not wanting a tight fit then sizing down 1 is fine. The silhouette will still be slim even after stretching. Sizing down 2 also makes my balls ache

It may make be a little tight for a couple days, but even these people sizing down 3 on NS have a relaxed fit after a few weeks. NS is not a skinny/tight cut after stretch. Way too many people buying new standards for a skinny look because they're just too afraid to buy the jean they should (cure or new cure). Sizing down 2 will end up being relaxed and probably having to wear a belt. Sizing down 1 works as well, and you'll most certainly have to wear a belt at least in my experience.
