Hong Kong Suit & Shirt Tailors Recommendation

Hi Everyone,

I've been floating around the forums for a while now, and finally decided to join.
I'll be heading to HK soon enough and want to buy a tailored suit and a few tailored shirts. From my understanding through the research in these forums, the general consensus is that W.W. Chan are Jantzen are both highly recommended for suits and shirts respectively.

W.W. Chan seems out of my budget for a suit at the moment (My budget being around $US500 per suit) and is generally regarded for the people who require the up-most quality at a good price. My question is, who would you guys recommend as the next best to go to in terms of quality of the material used and general workmanship? Jantzen? Taipan Row? Hemrajani?

In regards to shirts, are Janzten the absolute best in terms of price/quality ratio? Any others in Janzten league?

I bought 7 jantzen shirts when I was there and I am pleased by their quality in view of the price.

Here's a recommendation. Do get Ricky to measure you up. He's more experienced than the hired helpers that stand around.

Yes, if you are there, you should have no problems with Janzten. Do try to go during the day and avoid weekends especially Sundays.

Jantzen is closed on Sundays. Best time to go on weekdays is between 2pm to 5pm when the mob is at work.

Well spotted. I've only been once, it was during the 'mobless' time but still very busy.

But what about suits?

Jantzen? Taipan Row? Hemrajani? Keeping in mind my budget is around $US500 per suit.

You can visit Taipanrow for a set of 2-pc suit with a selection of fabrics of the budget. Keep in mind out of 3 branches, you will save more in their Manning House branch.

Also you can visit Zen tailor at 1/F Entertainment Building just nearby.

I am not sure of the quality yet, I am awaiting for the first fitting next week.

has Jantzens timlieness for online orders improved?

also, which of his materials are similar to C Tyrwhitt Sea Island Quality?

Jantzen is in the progress of moving his workshop (not the store), so I wouldn't touch Jantzen right now as his move looks not well coordinated. I believe he said the move will probably be complete in about 1 month.

I am also trying out "Jim's Tailor" right now for a suit, in Admiralty Center

Afraid not

Just a note, Jantzen's timelines do not apply to purchases in house. I remember him turning shirts around in about three business days when I was there.

Toiletduck, mind telling us how your Jim's suit turns out?

There are quite a few tailors on the same floor as Jim's, not sure about their quality but are much less expensive than Chan's.
