Seems to me you could jump out of a plane and ask forgiveness on the way down.

In a moving and heartfelt message Thursday, President Barack Obama challenged young minority men to make good choices.

"Part of our message in this initiative is 'no excuses'. Government and private sector and philanthropy and all the faith communities, we have the responsibility to provide you the tools you need," he said at a White House event.

"We need to help you knock down some of the barriers that you experience," he continued. "That's what we are here for but you have responsibilities too."

So I'm thinking I know many young minority men that take responsibility far more seriously than I do. Where's he getting this from? Then I read on:

The message was part of his new initiative called "My Brother's Keeper," where leading foundations and businesses will donate at least $200 million over five years towards programs aimed at minority youth of color.

Now I get it.

I remember making this same argument in Sunday School, though I don't remember getting a clear answer.

Snarky response about Christianity being diverse.

What a fucking shitbird. $200 million for shit feel good programs that won't do shit.

Yet Walmart pledges to buy $250 Billion of US made goods over the next decade. And of course all the libs hate that because they're a big evil corporation. But guess which program has the better chance of improving the lives of young minorities?

Is it more welfare? Because I'm betting more welfare. If it doesn't work it only means it was too small.

It's a load of horseshit. He's creating a "task force" and a website where minority youths can go look for jobs. Hey fuckface, there's already a website where a person can go look for a job. It's called fucking craigslist and it's been doing just fine for the past decade.

EDIT - for fucks sake he has the Sec of Agriculture on the task force. What a clueless moron this asshole is.

Obama made some bad decisions, but he was able to get away with it. He wants to help other minorities get away with making bad decisions.

Seriously, that's the lead at CNN. I hope that wasn't what he actually said.

Is the fact that the website looks it was designed in 1995 supposed to be part of the appeal of the Drudge Report?

It's pretty close. I'll try to find a transcript.

EDIT

“The only difference is that I grew up in an environment that was a little bit more forgiving. So when I made a mistake, the consequences were not as severe."

I was listening to something on NPR where they were talking about how the judicial system is so much harsher on minorities. I buy the general thesis (especially for drug offenses), but their examples were just terrible. They're talking about "general childhood mischief" like stealing cars, throwing bricks through windows, etc, and acting like that's just par for the course growing up in America. Maybe they should have included some people who grew up in the 'burbs to provide some context.

I knew some kids who go busted for selling heroin of all things in high school. They're probably still in prison.

Thinking that stealing cars is not part of a normal childhood = #whiteprivilege
