Easier to keep a blade sharp than most other methods, especially if they aren't lopping off a dozen heads a week French Revolution style. Maintenance is easy. All the other methods have a lot of room for bad endings, guillotine is pretty automatic if the blade is sharp. No human error factors, just a big heavy blade and gravity.
