I would warn you guys to not Google Image her name as there are some fairly graphic photos of her face after it was mauled.

Issues like this will remain a problem until science is able to perfect the cloning organs and/or the 3D printing of them.
So Harold is going to have to wait a bit longer for dat sexy robot body?

The report I saw said the cause of death wasn't known. The way I remember it, that woman had serious psychological issues [she needed the face transplant because of a suicide attempt], so there's no telling what ultimately killed her.

I believe you may be thinking of a different woman. This woman's face was destroyed by her dog.

Her dog ate her face off while she was passed out from trying to kill herself with pills.

Did she live (or more to the point, die) in Florida? That sounds like something that would happen in Florida.

A huge disturbance in the Force in Canada. This lawsuit, if successful, will completely destroy the country. Honest. It's so important the Feds have already intimated they'll just step into this provincial matter and make it turn out how every true Canadian wants it to.

I have it on good authority from dozens of people who have never been to Canada that there is no wait for medical procedures in Canada, so his lawsuit must be baseless.

You make a solid point.

One of the comments I heard on that radio was that this would "result in people who could pay more getting better care," stated as if that was just obviously immoral and absurd.

Half the point of introducing dual-tier is that the basic level of coverage provided right now is unacceptable. Do people really think having an extremely low ceiling of care is better than setting a reasonable floor and allowing people to pay extra to go over that?

In Canada the resounding answer to that question is, "ARE YOU A FUCKING YANK?"

It's like the reverse of American exceptionalism. We refuse to consider ideas from the rest of the world because we have to be doing it best. Canadians refuse to do things like Americans, because America is awful.

It's kind of funny when you ask people to structure a case for how getting increased quality of care for more money is immoral so long as the floor is set high enough. They always fall back to "well it never actually works out that way." But they seem to think throwing more money at the current system will fix it.

A substantial part of the Canadian identity can be summed up as, "We're better than the US."

A mildly interesting article about Homer Simpson's jobs:

My aunt had to go to Mayo Clinic. They would have began chemo for her corpse like a year post diagnosis.
