Hillary has (D) after her name so she's automatically the candidate of preference in Canada. Hell, Obama has like an 80 or 85% positive approval rating in Canada. My relatives are quite convinced Trump is the second coming of Hitler, as in, they're telling me he's going to round non-whites up and kill them. I shit you not.

Trump is the ass of the decade but Hitler he's not. Seriously not kidding folks in southern Ontario are convinced he's going to open concentration camps and "showers."

Also, WTF is "hundo?" That was slang for a c-note but I have no idea what it means for you.

Exactly.  So if Hillary wins, Trump supporters will flee to Canada.  If Trump wins, Hillary will flee.  They should be prepapring to keep those unwanted Trump supporters out.

Did I somehow imply otherwise?

Old link, but it is related to the NYT article that is going around today that tells you how to see where Facebook think you fall on the political spectrum (so they can sell Donald Trump ads that target moderates and granola ads to hippies). Stays current on the updates though.

Kind of scary just how different your incoming media might be...this isn't fox news vs msnbc bias, but a hell of a lot stronger (and with zero journalistic integrity).

I wonder how Facebook categorizes my political views.  I have mine listed as "fascism you can vote for"

EpiPen and the company that makes it Mylan have been in the news recently due to huge price increases the pen has seen.

Thought this could lead to some interesting discussions on the topic and I have no doubt our savior Piob will chime in. Personally, I don't propose to have a solution but do believe the system we have in place is flawed to lead to mass marketed drugs costing so much. On a note relating to the SF community, @DerekS' daughter recently had an allergic reaction that caused a seizure and now his family carries these pen's everywhere. They cost $600 for a pack of two, but luckily he is only paying $10 under insurance.

I hope Derek's daughter is doing well and my thoughts are with them.

As to pricing...hate the game, not the player. If this was a guy that bought out a line of tires Mercedes used exclusively, and he jacked up the prices 10 fold, the same people cursing now would be applauding over the tire price hike.

I think its an odd thing... .drug prices are so subsidized by insurance companies, that they can get away with it fuckall to uninsured folks. The entire industry is a fucked up place and glad fixing it doesnt rest on my shoulders.

thanks P! she's doing great, like nothing ever happened. Having no idea what was going on, scared the living shit out of me.

im 50/50 with you on the tire analogy.... where you lose me is the life/death importance of medicine vs the luxury of driving a mercedes. I DO tend to think that if the market was allowed to work, and competition thrived, epi would be selling for a much different price. My kids doc was telling me that she could give us a syringe with the same dose as the epipen, and it would cost around $3. as opposed to $300 epipen.

If the pens are $10 through insurance, you are lucky indeed.  Being a type 1 diabetic my insulin pens are crazy expensive even with insurance.  Sure they make vials but the vials have to be kept refrigerated, dont store well, can break, etc.  The pens can slip into my pocket, etc.  No one uses vials anymore.  Having 2 types of insulin (and no generics) costs me almost $500 every 3 months.  Without insurance it would be almost $3000.

type 1 diabetic as well. I just had to pay $6K last week for my supplies and insulin pump and CGM. Moving to the pump was the best decision ive made, but holy shit it was expensive.

When i used the pens, my copay was $30 for a pack of them. (4-5 pens in the box if i recall) I remember when i was without insurance i had to pay thousands out of pocket for those few months. Kinda terrible... 2 choices... pay it, or pretty much die.

Glad to hear it.

The industry has a lot of problems, but the biggest systemic issue to me is the FDA drug approval process.  It is slow an onnerous, and there are many cases where other countries have approved a drug that isn't approved here.  Look at Zikka and other countries were using genetically modified mosquitos to fight it while we dithered here until it was an emergency.

Then there are the coverage problems where most people don't pay for their health coverage directly.  The vast majority is covered by insurance/Medicare/whatever. Add in intellectual property issues, and it is a really fucked up market.
