Seriously, though: I'm not a constitutional scholar but I'm not aware of any precedent about this. It could make for an interesting Supreme Court case.

That's perhaps my favorite Zapp Brannigan quote:

Where we come from, we have a law and that law is "no backsies".

I know it is the USA Today, but these lines on an article about the House budget made me chuckle:

Quote:
The House Budget Committee last week approved a budget resolution that provides $1.07 trillion in discretionary spending for fiscal 2017. But Freedom Caucus members and some other conservatives want House leaders to scrap that deal and set the budget at no more than $1.04 trillion to comply with stricter spending levels set in the 2011 Budget Control Act.

The difference is less than 3%.  I mean, $1.04 trillion is an obscene amount of money, how does spending $30B less make you any more conservative?

Did I miss it or no talk on the Hulk Hogan vs Gawker ruling? $110 million plus an additional $25 added yesterday. I hate to see people lose a job, but the Gawker network (minus Lifehacker) is garbage. Not sure they can survive this unless they win in appeal.

I'm all in favor of people losing jobs if their jobs are being worthless shitbags.
Not that I have an opinion on the matter in question . . .

I'm a bit surprised because he is a celebrity, but it sounded like the Gawker folks were total shitbags on the stand.

Anyone who writes for Gawker is a piece of shit. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of folks.

I'm particularly schadenfreudish that the founder and former editor were personally tagged.

Jalopnik and Deadspin would both be losses. Gizmodo is good too. Really it's just the main site and Jezebel that suck.

Yes, people forget that Gawker owns a bunch of other sites and some of them are quality. I personally love Lifehacker and would hate to see it go away.

It's hard to make a defense that posting clips of someone's sex video constitutes news, celebrity or not. From what I understand this is one of those rare times that the main participants didn't "leak" it on purpose. It sounds like her husband did without Hogan's knowledge.

So what's up with executive pay in the EU? Didn't Switzerland have a referendum wanting to cap it and it was soundly defeated? Isn't the movement about getting shareholder participation in bonuses, etc?

Chinese women posing behind an A5 piece of paper to show how thin they are, proceed to get thin shamed:

I miss the 90s when anyone with a stupid idea could only share it with the people forced to be physically near them.
