I am for a fair trial but it sucks when a guilty person gets off on a technicality. Just like O.J.

The person stays in custody with a retrial right? Is there new bail? I honestly cant say I have ever paid attention to this.

Like many things in law, it depends. It's possible for someone to be freed on bail prior to a new trial, but it depends on many factors.

I think many proponents of the Constitution would strongly argue with your characterization of people being found not guilty because of a "technicality." Have you read the 6th Amendment? It's certainly an imperfect justice system, but our Founding Fathers and most citizens today agree that ensuring the right to a fair trial, a presumption of innocence, and the reasonable doubt burden of proof are not mere technicalities. Sure, it sucks sometimes, especially when looked at in isolated cases. However, the alternative is much worse.

We arent that far off. I agree with your statements and the 6th amendment. However, these protests are being brought forth because of a highly biased documentary that people are making money off of. The trial ended some 10-11 years ago. No new evidence has actually been unearthed. That and now the documentary has also brought undue burden and emotion on the victims family.

Sorry, we can't release some of Hillary's emails as part of your FOIA request because they're too classified.

Ted Cruz being super creepy. He's not the only candidate or PAC who has done something similar to this, but his definitely has the creepiest tone to it.

Very creepy to me but should not phase anyone that believes in mandatory voting as they have in places like Oz.

If growing wheat on your own property for your own consumption is interstate commerce, I don't see how compiling voting records and mailing them (buying stamps, envelopes, etc is a commercial activity) isn't commerce.

My first reaction to that is to be pissed and say "They dont have the right to post that". But then who really cares how many times I vote. I dont care how many times my neighbor votes, why shouldnt they think the same about me. All the little primaries and what not probably bring my score down too. Its just the main elections that I have to go and cancel out the wifes vote wink.gif

Man, some Bernie Sanders fans are delusional. There's a poll going around saying that 42% of Democrats are in favor of socialism. They're spinning this as some grand win for Sanders. That's less than half of Democrats!

There's also a general favorability rating poll, with socialists at 59%. Also being touted as "look at how Bernie can win!" But it's by far the lowest rating of any group, below Muslims and atheists. These are bad signs people, not good signs.

I am quite certain a majority of Americans don't even know what socialism is much less whether they favor it or not. I would be very curious to know how many "anti socialists' send back their SS checks or refuse to use their medicare benefits.

Bernie's argument about his "democratic socialism" viewpoint isn't bad, it's just that a large fraction of the population is going to hear "socialist" and shut down. The well is pretty well poisoned for "socialism" as a named political ideology, even as people are willing to accept more and more government run programs. They just don't want them called socialism.

It's not exactly a coincidence that "Socialist!!!" has been one of the chief insults from the right against Obama, and he's extremely moderate compared to Sanders. Think about the "keep government out of my Medicare" imbeciles. Imagine their little minds upon realizing that state healthcare is a degree of socialism.

Most folks in the US that favour socialism also think medical tort reform should not happen, ditto tort reform in general, and certainly do not think their taxes should be raised...or for a material sized group that don't pay anything in federal income tax that they should start to pay some.

Basically, "socialists" in the US think someone else should pay for their shit vs. thinking, "I'm part of society and I need to work hard to help support it."

My pot smoking pizza delivery guy neighbor (his dad owns the house) has a Bernie sign out front.
