From there we have a national conversation framed that one is automatically suspected of being racist by any Obama supporter if you're not an Obama supporter.

Political discourse in the US at this moment is so dazzling.

Of course racism is implied the query was not specific but the question still remains. Why this outsize criticism on an issue not only insignificant but by all outward appearances in line with the politics of the critics . I won't deny the disingenuousness of my query but when individuals reject the actions of their elected officials regardless of the content of those actions we are well on our way to becoming an ungovernable people . I am not an Obama supporter but I'm not gonna hate on the guy when he's just doing his job

I thought you were just asking a general question why people don't like him due to how your question was phrased. I've nothing against him doing his job but he does indeed rub me the wrong way for the reasons I've stated. I also really don't care about him renaming a mountain, as that's really neither here nor there in the scheme of things, and I really will laugh my ass off if he has a lucrative relationship with GM after his presidency.

Speaking of which I think we can safely say the fortunes other presidents have amassed by trading on their former position will pale (see what I did there?) in comparison to the fortune the Obamas will acquire.

And there it is.

The fact changing the McKinley-Denali change is a bit of an F You to Boehner (Ohio-R) may not be been a huge disincentive for Obama, either.

Alexander Hamilton goes into the trash can so we can put an angry battle-axe on the $10.00 bill.

Oh man I hope they dont start messing with the money. Christ I dont even live in the US but for f*ck's sake leave the famous old guys alone on the goddamn money. Ya dont need to "level the playing field" with a bunch of women and minorities and shit. If the *Founding Fathers* were all female Asians then that should be the damn money and stay the damn money. Man I hate historical revisionism.

There would be zero controversy in Canada if they attempted to put, say, a female Asian scientist on on a bill.

I still pause for a second until I remember those stupid Sacagawea dollar coins are real legal tender every time I get one.

I notice that Wikipedia, which supposedly uses the most common English name for things in its article titles, immediately followed Obama's press release and changed the name of their article about Mt. McKinley.

Just a slight hint that Wikipedia has a bit of political bias, maybe?

Look what you fucks have done

And doesn't wikipedia attempt to use the correct name for inanimate objects. For people they might try to use the most popular alias or preferred gendered name... But for a mountain, I am pretty sure the standard should be "use the actual name, redirect from other names".

I thought Wiki pages can be edited by anyone.  At the top of the page there is a tab that lets you can view the users who made changes to the entry

That was the idea back in 1997 or whatever. Nowadays it's run by a cabal of "editors" who apply an elaborate set of "policies" that are carefully crafted to favor their preferred points of view and allow them to basically do whatever they want when necessary.

Yes, the contrast with the likelihood that it would have taken the editors of the classic World Book Encyclopedias a year or so to make a similar change demonstrates how it's all about political bias.
