Help - Tom Ford (TF) White/Cream Tuxedo Jacket/Blazer

Evening Guys,

I've seen this really nice TF tuxedo that im thinking of getting for NYE this year. The jacket has a button on the right, with the hole on the left, as all men's jackets button up. However, the only picture i can find of it is a girl wearing it on a red carpet? (Please see attached picture)

The size is labelled as EUR44 (UK/US34) which is how a man's jacket is sized, right?

Can you guys clear up which gender this tuxedo jacket is for?

Look forward to hearing your answers.

Thanks

Looks like it's a woman's cut.

I agree.  But, for what you would pay for anything form TF, you could probably get a white DJ with black facings made.  Not my cup of tea.  I prefer self-facings on a white DJ, but then I have very conservative tastes when it comes to Black Tie.  I also would not wear a white DJ in the summer (except in the tropics).  But if you want one, there is probably just enough time to get it made for New Year's.

The seller say's they bought it off yoox.com, in the men's section. Would yoox get something like that wrong or is it just a small men's size? I've seen someone else selling a EUR44 (UK34) tuxedo jacket on ebay so i know they do exist.

thanks

34 isn't a size you normally see OtR for men.  36 is as small as you would normally find, and even that can be difficult to get sometimes.  It's possible that it was altered for the woman who wore it.  I still recommend you go get one made, assuming that a Tom Ford dinner jacket is somewhere north of $1500.

I really do have my heart set on a TF one for NYE. Does the button positioning not give it away? i thought all men's jackets had the button on the right hand side, and visa versa for women's?

The button for this jacket is on the men's side?

Thanks

This is a women's jacket.  The sleeve length versus the body length (especially for Tom Ford), accentuated hips and the tremendous waist suppression are telling, the button position and lapel buttonhole notwithstanding.  Women's clothes are also sized in Euro sizes and 44 is, while on the larger end, not an uncommon women's size (about a US women's 14).  I would expect a Men's TF jacket to have a Zegna fabric/size tag, anyway — not this small fabric size tag.  E.g.this.

Here is Rose McGowan in the same jacket:

Handmade Software, Inc. Image Alchemy v1.14

And here is a Tom Ford jacket off of Yoox Women's with the same buttonhole and button positioning, but obviously a women's jacket:

Why did you create two threads for this? Unnecessary clutter. My answer in the other one was basically /thread after one reply...

To me, this looks like it might be exactly that, what with the black label and particularly in the 44 size...copying the tradition taken up by Hedi Slimane at Dior.

The first thread wasn't showing up so i was unsure if it had been posted.

So we have a resounding opinion that this is a women's jacket?

Thanks

Quite, yes.

As far as the size EUR44 for men, they do exist (some brands even go as small as a EUR42 eg. Dior Homme, DSquared---though admittedly the 42 is probably to allow the female demographic to wear the clothes with an appropriate fit....such as Cate Blanchett, who used to wear Hedi Slimane designed Dior Homme). I own quite a large number of jackets in this size, OtR, from a range of different designers. But then, i'm based in Asia, where such a small size is actually quite in demand.

So i wouldnt rule out the tux jacket being from the menswear collection on size alone. However, other members have already chimed in with the observation that the general cut and proportions of the jacket not being really standard TF menswear, which might suggest it's a womenswear item (I have no experience with the Tom ford cut, given it's not available in my country....so i really couldnt say based on my own experience).

Having said that, one question would be, would you be able to fit into a EUR44? It would seem a moot point if the jacket were too small for you anyway.

On the other hand, if you're fashion forward, and the jacket fits your frame, i dont see why you couldn't wear it for NYE? (Unless it's a fear of being self-conscious and wondering if people are snickering at you behind your back and saying "Look at that fool wearing a woman's tuxedo jacket!!!")

Yes i have seen a few EUR44 Tom Ford jackets for sale, but only with notch lapels thus far, and i'm into peak lapels (shawl for tux's). I recently bought a EUR46 Tom Ford jacket, and had it tailored as it was too long on both the arms and length. The shoulders were also a little too wide, but there's not much i can do about that, hence why i'm looking to go a size smaller for my next Ford purchase.

I would rather not have a women's jacket if i could help it, and seeing as the only picture i can find of it is on a woman, and others describing it's feminine cut, i may have to send it back when it arrives.

Does anyone happen to know whether Tom Ford has an official email address or point of contact for queries?

Thanks,

-Sam

When are you expecting the white jacket to arrive? I'd be curious to see a picture of you in it, more for the sake of seeing how a 44 would fit on you.

I'm off to HK next month, will ask if they have any EUR44 Tom Ford (more for your future reference, and no way in time for your NYE shindig). I'm on the hunt for a peak lapel tux myself, but will be glad to share any info i manage to get.

Good luck with it btw

Female without doubt - looks dreadful and certainly not one to contemplate.

I ordered it from the US last week so i'm hoping it will be here by the end of this week. As i said i have seen them so i know they exist, not sure it that's OTR though or made to measure.

Any connections for 34/36 Jackets, 14.5 neck shirts or any accessories/shoes would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
