What compels you to list as one of your top 5 bands a relatively unknown composer, i.e. not Beethoven or Mozart, you pretentious fuck? I don't see any continuity in the type of music you supposedly listen to... are you one of those assholes who prides himself on listening to "every type of music"? Wu Tang Clan + Gustav Mahler = DOES NOT COMPUTE Really. You don't just decide one day after playing "Shame on a Nigga" that you're going to listen to this incredibly complex music, grounded in a formal manner of composition, that often sounds like jabberwocky to untrained ears like yours. Did you take a music appreciation class and now you're all badass because you can tell people you know who Gustav Mahler is? I'm getting the impression that you rarely listen to Mahler, don't fully grasp the emotional breadth of his works, and more or less randomly chose to include him on a list consisting of otherwise run-of-the-mill indie rock and your token 90's rap group. Poser.

I know you're fucking with me, but Kriss Kross wore some next-level shit. I think of them as the Margiela of cheesy old school hip hop.

There are a few options here:

1) You are innumerate.
2) You read in Tiger Beat that six is the new five.
c) Britney is your vote for best rack and you actually listen to the lower five short-lived has-beens.

In any case, this is a wise and economical list - you can make a disc of all their best hits and still have room on the CD for a Mahler symphony.

Really. You don't just decide one day after playing "Shame on a Nigga" that you're going to listen to this incredibly complex music, grounded in a formal manner of composition, that often sounds like jabberwocky to untrained ears like yours. Damn. Wu Tang is mostly for the sake of irony. FWIW, I play in a pretty well respected youth symphony that won a Grammy last year and play a lot of Mahler. And honestly, Mahler isn't that obscure. If I were being a really pretentious fuck, I might've said Paganini, Dragonetti, Eccles, or even Edgar Meyer.

But yeah, I admittedly don't listen to much classical music on my iPod, but I play it enough that I hear more of it than any of the indie shiznit that populates my hard drive.
