Backpacks for work?

Not sure if this is the right place for this. I'm coming around to the fact that backpacks are much more useful/practical than a typical briefcase or messenger bag. Any of you carry backpacks to the office? I've seen some pretty good looking ones, but I'm skeptical if they can be pulled off in a business setting.

I work in a business casual environment - button up and jeans type of place.

It might be frown upon by the users in this forum, but I've definitely see people do it in an office setting. If you think it's more practical, then go for it. It's similar to people wearing sneakers commuting to work before switching out to their shoes in the office.

I wouldn't dismiss the idea wholesale. Just don't use it with sports coats.

Backpacks for Work? Yes! If you're a forest ranger, a guide or in some similar outdoor occupation. Otherwise, they strike me as, well, juvenile.

If you want to use a backpack for the office just because other people do, why on earth bother joining a group called Style Forum?

Whilst the answer should be no - they often are.

Where did you get the notion that he wants to use a backpack "just because other people do"? He specifically says he is coming around to the idea that they are more practical than the more traditional alternatives.

If one doesn't exist I suggest we get our heads together and come up with a design, given the success of the Cambridge Satchel Company etc I'd say there's a market for form meets function here

I don't presonally have a backpack and I'm afraid I can't point you in the direction of something a little more refined than your average North Face type affair

If you work in an office that allows jeans and button ups then you are probably fine. However I, personally, would choose not to look like a high school student at work.
exactly my thoughts..I got this for my HS son last year. He didn't like it at first but when his bros and chicks started asking, well you know HS is all about image and shiiiit. Anyway, another reco for biz caz environment are the Filson 256/257 bags. Good Luck

Backpacks are for sports or children. Not for work. Even if it's made of stingray, by Gucci, for 10 grand.
