Stop Shopping/How long since your last major purchase?

So I think it's been about a year since I've made anything approaching a frivolous/costly purchase. I'd wager this is downright monastic compared to most of you, but I figured I'd see if my freedom from material goods could be be bested by any among you. For the purpose of this exercise, let's say that these are purchases that are significant relative to your income level, e.g. if you're pulling $10k/mo. dropping a couple hundred bucks is not a big deal. Here is a video from Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping to set the mood: http://www.youtube.com/?v=cj6HfWfNrN8 http://www.revbilly.com/

Umm...I built a new computer just to play games while my older one was functioning just fine. I also just bought a 37" Philips HDTV. But given that I haven't had cable in years, and the old TV (I think it was at least 15 years old) was a hand-me-down from a buddy, and that my roommate is splitting the cost, and that I got a great deal, I don't feel as guilty about it compared to the computer purchase. All this happened in the past 30 days. In any case, no more frivolous buying for me for a long time.

I've gone cold turkey for 1 month. I'm still the master of my domain.

Although that watch porn thread almost broke me.

I recommend depression and dissociation from the world to make you stop wanting things.

I bought some stuff from the Polo sale last week. Now I'm saving up for a DSLR. Other than that, I don't think I'll be making any significant purchases...I'm living by myself for the summer so I've got to support

last major clothing purchase was years ago. Replacing a window in our guest bathroom: one thousand dollars. Should be here, next week.
