I agree. Obama weighed freedom of speech vs. his own preference for "responsible" speech and free speech lost.

Moreover, Obama was personally offended by the cartoons.

I can't imagine his presence or conduct would have made us look any better, so I've lost the will to care let alone criticize him for not attending things like this.

Damned if he did or didn't. Personally I think most people don't care to see the "leaders" holding hands, some sort of action on broader issues are needed. I'm not sure what is to be done though as it seems to have gone just insane in the last decade.

I just think that it reflects his view of things. England is imperialist, so Churchill goes back. France is imperialist, so my cabinet has better things to do.
