No offense, but I'd take Spoos (non-thrifted) Ferrari over this thing any day.

What is that thing? Looks like something out of the late 90s/early 2000s. Very blech.

Does it have to be Spoo's? I actually prefer the 458 Spider over the F430. I can dream...

Like a guy trying to bring a knife to a gunfight. And Size 38R is the knife guy. biggrin.gif

The knife won this round. And I also believe that's a sword. :D

I like GTR's...So this might not be a fair assessment...:embar:

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

jrd617: no offence taken.

To end the speculation.

My car is a 1997 R33 Skyline Gts25t.  not a gtr. and i chose it for an exact purpose, having looked at gtr's first...  this car is 200kg lighter. with the same tuning potential. (rwd vs 4wd)

i am interested in going FAST.

faster than you might think possible.

since the initial purchase, i have had the rear wheel arches widened, and rolled smooth. to fit wider semi-race tires. (grip=launch) replaced ALL older weak parts, with parts by HKS,Blitz, and Greddy. along with a complete exhaust upgrade from TRUST.  i recieve techincal help from an official HKS engine builder.  and am waiting for a new intercooler, and engine management computer.  so i can fit my HUGE HKS 30/40 turbo. which will give me between 600-650 horsepower.  along with already upgraded brakes, and suspension at semi track spec.

-this car is a weapon. aimed at 11 sec quarter miles, quick lap times, and driving to the thrift shops.  while looking standard from the outside.- keeping it's charm. (in my eyes)

it's a Katana.:slayer:

so, as you can see. not a choice related to personal wealth, but personal obsession. hand built, with care.  total cost to date : under $10,000. mostly thrifted.

and i wouldn't change a thing.   this is what it does....

^not me. just same car as mine.:D

ever played "Gran tourismo"?  when i did, a long time ago now. i fell in love. and said to myself "one day, i will have one". and now i do.(even the color i wanted) next- the whole dream garage........:smarmy:  3more to go......

anything is possible. and i get why spoo is so proud. we share a love for our cars.  my only objection is you can't thrift a car at market value.  if it was Really cheap? ok then.

my votes are...

"Sword cane"  badass grail of the year.

Nataku,haul of the year.

Wes, thrift community leader of the year.

spoo. - Hall of fame 1st winner.

Eazye. breakout star of the year.

Gmmcl. all round good guy of the year.

NATAKU CONGRATS!

Thanks everyone! I think my Yohji haul just goes to show that you really never know what is going to pop up where. I mean really, who would have thought of finding a closet full of Yohji and other high-fashion jackets in a Minnesota thrift store. To top it off, it was at a thrift store in a strictly middle-class area that doesn't use a central distribution center so everything in the store was donated on-site. I still have a hard time wrapping my head around this haul.

Here's to wishing everyone some amazing finds in 2014. cheers.gif

I'm honestly not sure. I lost track. Well over $6,000. Haha. Most I got was $500 or $600 from one of the crazier pieces. I probably could have gotten more than I did if I had done 30 day BIN listings and was patient. Sadly I needed the money so I did 7 day listings and still did alright. I kept a handful of jackets too as well as the Pringle slim black trousers.

Just amazing. Well done!

So, boss, whats the inaugural speech to rally the troops to topple you for '14?
Thanks! Haha, well I'm not good at speeches but in all honesty there's not much to it. Noobs, please do read the whole thread regardless of how long it takes. It's extremely informative and the photos which became the norm in the later days are a big help. Learn from other's past mistakes.

Besides that, just keep persistent and look in places others may not. You just might find a treasure. Keep at it, guys! smile.gif
