Anybody ever tried waxing one of g's workshirts? I have a new hickory striped I picked up off eBay for a great price and was considering melting a bar of otter wax on it.

I think the only thing I missed was maybe higher armholes for the slim version other than that I don't they are that different. I didn't check to see if the chest to waist ratio is different from classic to medium, but if it is, I would say the slim was another cut then.

(1) straight leather cuff with no slit
(2) stretch fabric cuff as often seen on military jackets
(3) slit cuff with zipper
(4) slit cuff with snap(s)
(5) slit cuff with button(s)

Did I miss any options?  Of these 5 options I think it needed to be either (4) or (5) on the L1.  (3) would have been wrong on the L1 because its not a moto style.  (1) and (2) are just bad.  I'm okay with the buttons.  Although I've not gotten to wear it yet to test them out due to still being hot here.

I also like the simple style but using unique high quality leather.  The color #8 CXL on my L1 is beautiful and unlike anything I've seen at a store where leather coats are routinely priced at $500+.  Definitely it doesn't look like what everyone else is wearing.  In fact, it would be more accurate to say that more people are wearing moto jackets like the L2 than like the L1.

I could probably find a custom made jacket that I'd like better, something from a high end long established leather coat company made in a beautiful horsehide, etc.  But I bet I'd pay $1000+ for it.

If you don't value the special leathers or made in USA then you could buy something less expensive in a store, made in Asia out of who knows what, but that doesn't seem like a fair comparison or basis for calling the L1 a disaster.

Your cuff option 1 would have been just fine. Most leather jackets use this. It only requires you get the sleeves tailored to the correct length.

You are missing my point. I do appreciate leathers like CXL #8; I have boots and a Gustin belt made from this. What I don't appreciate is the L1's lack of style and out of place cuffs, particularly at a relatively high price point.

You may want to get the can version since you are supposed to melt and then brush that on for "Factory" effect. I mean, it might seep too far in and get a little waxy on the INSIDE too, but it would certainly look better than the bar first time around.

Anyone have a pair of Gustin jeans sewn up in the selvedge twill? Kinda liking the new one released today. Appears darker than the previous version. Just looking for people's experiences with them.

Also wondering on that one. Did people size up one inch or two and did sizing up help with the sizing?

Think I may pick those and the blue sweatshirt up.

Looking to cop any 33 slim denim or Classic Large shirts. If anyone's letting them go, please let me know.

Thanks!

Yesterday I wore my #265 JAPAN 21 for the first time.

I think these are going to be awesome jeans.  As the description says, they are surprisingly supple for a 21oz denim.  They almost didn't hurt.  :bounce2:

These are a great value.  Japanese 21 oz ultra heavies made of Zimbabwe cotton?  For $115?  Yes, thank you.

Great texture.  I found myself touching them all day.

Anyone have any fade photos of these?  I timeshare between too many jeans so it may take 100 years before I've broken them in.

Highly recommended.

I would avoid using the bar at all costs and maybe go for the wax that you can melt and apply with a brush. I used a bar of Otter wax on my G trucker and ruined it to the point that it looks like sh*t. I basically rubbed the bar into the fabric and then used a heat gun to try and melt the wax into the fabric, but that method proved to not work so well as it left chunks of wax residue in every little crevice.

Hi all,

I was hoping for some advice on the fit of Gustin Chinos, as I'd like to upgrade my wardrobe.

My best fitting chinos are Banana Republic Emerson fit in 30 waist. My true waist is 33, but BR run 2-3 inches larger. What do you think my best option would be with Gustin chinos?

TIA

From the size guide (https://www.weargustin.com/fitguide?filter=chinos) you'd likely be a size 32 in Gustin chinos

Better yet, measure your current chinos and compare to the size guide.

My dimensions are similar and I wear size 32 Gustin chinos in straight fit (for my thighs)
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Thanks. My intention was not to turn this into Find Your Fit 101 type of question smile.gif I specifically mentioned BR Emerson fit to solicit opinions on the comparability with Gustin from those that have the experience. There is 1 inch difference in rise, which can can drastically change the fit.
