My #8 boots arrived at the office today.  Haven't had a chance to scrutinize them much but in the ~30 minutes they've been mine, I sure have enjoyed looking at them!

That's the Thedi cafe racer, correct?  I think EP/Mike mentioned they will be doing a more affordable version in different leather, which i'll keep an eye out for.  To not get off topic, I would love a cafe racer style for the next leather jacket design from Gustin to consider as well.

Yea I think the biggest difference if I remember was leather. This one is horween so it is pretty substantial where the thedi they were bringing would be lighter I believe.

I was going to go in on Gustins but this one covers most of my bases. After feedback comes out I might consider the black

Not to hijack the Gustin thread, but again that jacket looks great. I got the Epaulet/Thedi cafe racer this year and it looks a bit different than yours. Mine's horsehide I believe..

Yea mine is their old version. I strictly wear epaulet and gustin for casual wear and absolutely love both brands

So unfortunately just hours after I posted them here (a jinx perhaps?), my brake pedal in my car attacked my new CXL #8 boots.

Picture (Click to show)

May be hard to tell from picture, but the gash is about 2mm deep and nearly an inch long.  I know with a wound like this, its impossible to cover up completely, but what I'm planning to use is the Saphir repair cream in bordeaux.  https://www.hangerproject.com/saphir-renovating-recolorant-repair-cream.html

I was told because its a large gash to mix the cream with renovateur when applying to get a better consistency.  After that, I am planning to go over the spot with saphir cordovan cream in #8 color since I just happen to have it on hand (anyone think I would be better off with a traditional shoe cream over the cordovan cream?).

I'm pretty upset this happened to the boots on day 1, but am hoping this process will restore them somewhat.  Looking for any thoughts/advice from the community.

Use the back of a spoon to burnish the cream/wax into the scratch and flatten the edges etc. Do that regularly, brush the boots a lot and consider it character/patina...

That sucks about your boots, I guess I would brush the hell out of them and then use a warm spoon
