Looks like currently my best bet would be to order a standard cut medium (I have a ~42"-43" chest), but I have a 31" waist, so I end up swimming in a 41.5" waist cut.  I've had to overpay for custom shirts to date, but would love an alternative that had more taper in the cut.

I think you will find the classic medium to be too small on a 42-43" chest.  I also have a 42-43" chest, as measured by professional tailors for my suits, so its an accurate number.  And I tried a Gustin classic medium and it was too tight around the chest.  Which isn' surprising based on the fit guide.  You need 2-3" of extra shirt fabric around the chest, added to your chest measurement.  The Gustin classic medium is specified at 43.5" chest so a 42.5" chest will be a very tight fit.  My test classic medium almost fit but there was some unnatural tension at the upper button holes causing it to lay wrong, and that was prior to washing.  It was likely to shrink a bit over time even with air drying, so it would get worse not better.

I returned the classic medium for a classic large,  This shirt fits my chest well, consistent with the fit guide 45.5" vs my 42.5" chest.  Some of the other dimensions are a bit too big on the large but that is less bad than having the chest be too small which simply doesn't work.

I also stopped buying any white underwear many years ago and instead favor black, heather grey, solid bright colors, or multi-color patterns.  White is so boring.  I try to only wear underwear that a woman would admire when removing my pants.  I think that's a good rule of thumb for underwear selection.  White just doesn't seem to live up to that standard.

But note that that first underwear to 100% back is the set of 3 whites!  So apparently we are the exception and most men prefer white underwear.

Who would have guessed.

I LOLed at this one. Not b/c I disagree w/ your approach, but b/c the thought never even popped into my (married) head

This is the reason to avoid white underwear:

I did the same thing.  I doubt my wife EVER admired any of my boxer briefs... :inlove:

Yep agreed with the folks on a need for athletic fitment requirement. I tried medium classic and it was too tight on my chest and shoulders. I plan to try large classic next.

Medium classic fit alot smaller than most other medium brands I have tried.

I have come to the conclusion I need to tailor alter anything I buy from Gustin and from almost all other brands due to having a small waist and athletic bigger thighs, butt, shoulders, chest.

While I can certainly understand the desire to avoid additional costs - it would be fairly easy to have the waste brought in a large for you athletic gents and then you could have it tailored to your specific desires.

Thanks!  Hopefully @joshgustin can find more of this fabric to do another run of it.  I haven't noticed it come back up often (if at all) unfortunately

I was excited to see another moleskin chino pop up, but I got khaki/navy chinos pretty well covered.  Would love a brown or charcoal moleskin though

x2.  I'd love to see a deep deep burgundy, mocha brown, or heathered charcoal.  Got light grey covered, and the khaki up now is a bit plain and covered, navy covered.

Which fit is that? do you mind sharing your size, just trying to get an idea of how the leg opening looks. Just backed my first pair of G chinos, hoping for many more in the future.

What about their chinos do you like? Do you feel the price is worth the quality?

Great shoes!

thanks.

They are slim fit, size 31.  As for what I like, I think they are well constructed, Gustin uses some great materials, and fit is great for me.  Slim fit is tapered to my liking, so I just get them hemmed and they're good to go.  Between the quality/material they are well worth the price IMO, and are a nice quality chino that should last you years of wear.

If there's a fabric/material that you like, then give it a try!
