Shipping likely soon?

I got a shipping notice today for mine. The ones that were supposed to be due in May.

Well they admitted to being a little behind schedule like a month and a half ago, so I'm okay with that. Anyway, they just said shipping by May, so that could easily have been May 31st, or 1st, whatever. I'm okay with it. I'm just not okay with last minute changing my size to 36, when I think I needed 35, then tried to change it the next day, to no avail. I blew it.

AAAANYWAY, eagerly anticipating my first pair. I'll just back these and the 23s, and do my very best to restrain myself. I can't really afford/don't really need like 30 pairs of raw denim.

I'm digging the look of their Italian Power Blue, really tempted to cop it. Does anyone know of any jeans that use this same denim or a similar colour? I'd love to get an idea of what the complete pair of jeans would look like before making a decision.

I was told by a seller that Zimbabwe cotton produces better and "more interesting" fades.

I have the Zimbabwe's backed and expect shipping soon.

Any truth to this?

The one who said this sells Momotaro and said it is a "huge difference" between them and Unbranded, in quality.

I've read a bit as bout Momotara jeans.  Any comparison to our Gustins?

My experience with Zimbabwe cotton is that it is much softer! The fades are neither more nor less interesting than other jeans' fades.

Momotaro jeans are a league on their own! They are way better than Gustins (contruction, detail) but cost up to three times as much! I own two pairs of Momotaros "budget line" Japan Blue and they are comparable to Gustins.  But they still cost 20-30% more than Gustins do...

comparing the gustin bifold wallet to the tanner goods, what are the pros and cons of each?

Thanks

It's a helpful comparison.

Just got word that the Zimbabwe's have shipped so they should arrive by the weekend.  I'll put a review up.  I'm looking forward to seeing what Zimbabwe cotton looks and feels like.

Usonian,

I told myself the same thing.

Now, I understand that Gustin expects to offer the 23 ounce in July, so what do I do?  I have a credit with them and can just hold the credit for 4 weeks and the 23 ounce is half way paid for!

Nope, I had to grab the rainbowid3.  They look like a nice mid weight, Maine summer night jean.

I had said I would stop, but then I backed the Heavy American because at $81, and 16.75 ounces, it is one heck of a bargain...

oh yeah, then I thought, "it would be really great to have..."

Another thing to remember in dealing with your Gustin addiction:

If you back something that says "10 days left" and you think your credit card won't be charged until payday, and you tell yourself, "It's okay.  It won't go through till next week, when I get paid" and go ahead and back it, the following will happen:

The backing will end in mere hours, not days,  and your credit card will be immediately charged!  :)

PS:

The "family style" customer service attitude feeds the addiction.  Besides quality and price, they offer a wonderfully tempting variety of weights, colors and even textures.  This is what feeds the addiction powerfully.  I think that a few of us would be able to stop backing things, eventually, if they would just be rude to us, but they won't.

I'm with you on this. I've read some things about problems and mishaps and whatnot, and they always seem to go way out of their way to make things as right as possible, which is great. Zimbabwe's shipped for me, so I'm eagerly anticipating getting them soon and seeing what the fuss is all about as well.

People say the Zimbabwe looks like the Okayama standard, which I have.  The difference is in the feel (they say) with the soft, cotton feel of the Zimbabwe.

I wonder if the longer cotton hangs better.  I think the Zimbabwe might be a bit of a 'dressier' jean.  Mine is due to arrive by Friday.  Let's do reviews!

By the way, I wore one of the Ralph Lauren purple label shirts I got off ebay.  It retails for something north of $395.  I know that it is quality, but in the price tag is also the name.   I reiterate my point about the Gustin shirt, using the RLPL as reference point:

it is quality.

I am hoping they do standard cuts for us non-slim but guys.

I'll end up backing one at a time, month after month after month!  Those Chambray look terrific, particularly the red one!

I have both, and the Zimbs look a little greener?  I'll take pics of both of them when I get home.  They are hanging side by side.

PSA: I'm looking to move the Zimbs if anyone is interested.  Updated my listing in the classifieds.  http://www.styleforum.net/t/395268/4-different-gustin-denims/0_20

Reason for selling, is need to downsize my denims and make more wallet room for Gustin shirts, which I can't get enough of.  And Oldguy, the chambrays are very nice.

I can't wait to get my Zims! No ship notification yet...

Got my Zimbabwe's in yesterday (I backed the first offering). My second purchase from Gustin (first didn't fit) and finally found the perfect fit I think. Just barely got the top button done so with stretching should be an awesome fit. Excited to break in my first pair of raw denim.
