Restore color to water-damaged Neumoks?

Call me an idiot, but I was traveling in SE Asia in my almost-new blue Neumoks.

Now in most cities, the advent of sidewalks, cabs and generally good urban planning (i.e., the existence of storm drains) have minimized the exposure of shoes to rain damage, if one acts quickly to inclement weather, changes shoes, etc.

This is not the case in Phnom Penh, where, in a torrential downpour, I had to wade through up to 6 inches of water in my Neumoks to get from Airport to cab, cab to ATM (credit cards are of little use) and ATM to hotel. Feet and shoes completely drenched.

I have followed advice on other threads, including letting the shoes dry naturally, without heat, and alternating between shoe trees and empty. The shoes have also had an application of leather cleaner.

At this point, the leather is clean and dry, and the texture has returned, however the color has lightened substantially and appears a "cloudy." Any ideas on how to restore a more consistent blue color? As this is unfinished leather, it would seem that polishes and cremes are off the table. Many thanks.

AE's shoe care chart recommends saddle soap and "leather lotion" for the blue neumoks, so you might want to try that -- or, call them and see what they recommend.

Or, ask in the Official Shoe Care thread
