Made-to-Order Options

Gentlemen,

We’ve had a look through the options which might best meet your initial requirements.

As we explained earlier in this thread, we are developing a new ready to wear Heritage Collection, inspired by some of our best known bespoke work from the past. The first samples have arrived and we thought that our new “Fawley” semi-brogue might form the basis for our first Styleforum MTO.

The “Fawley” echoes some of the features of our famous “Chaves” semi brogue, although with a more pronounced bevelled waist, and has oak bark, in- channel stitched soles, leather stiffeners and toe puffs and the “Foster Fox” toe medallion.

The fading that you see on our bespoke shoes is a consequence of years of handling and exposure to sunlight, but we can create a similar effect to this. The process is quite lengthy and it is important to appreciate that each shoe responds differently to the hand finishing treatment, and as each shoe ages the effect may well continue to develop over time, though the overall effect is similar to the natural ageing you see on Foster & Son’s historic work.

Obviously you will want to be sure of having a good fitting shoe before embarking on this venture, so unless you have an opportunity to try on the shoe in London, we propose to make the shoes without the fading, send them to you so that you can check the fit, have you send them back to us (we will pay the postage both ways) and, when you’re happy with the fit, we will treat them. Please note that shoes must be returned in re-sellable condition, so carpets only please.

With regards to linings, we could have them lined in the Foster & Son green colour if you wish.

If you can return the shoes to us promptly, we would hope to deliver the faded shoes within 16 -20 weeks of placing the order, and provided we receive six orders we can avoid the additional charges normally incurred for a single pair. If your own sizing is in US or EU measurements, not UK, please be explicit.

The cost for doing this is as follows:

Shoes                                                                                                    £665

Lasted Trees (if required, pictures to follow shortly)                             £75

Fading                                                                                                   £175

Totalling either £840 without trees, or £915 with lasted trees (including UK VAT at 20% which can be removed for customers from outside the EU).

Some photographs of the Fawley

Please get in touch either here or by PM with any questions you may have.

I am in love with the Gordon spectator.  I am a safe 9E in the 888 last, but have no idea how a 9.5 in the 202 would work.

RogerP,

A bit at a loss to know how to advise you given the permutations around fit. Found an old thread that might help, http://www.styleforum.net/t/81463/edward-green-202-last/15. If you need some more guidance please get back to me.

AlexG33,

It will be lovely to see you tomorrow, and please do say that you saw this on Styleforum!

The toe shapes are quite similar.

The Chaves

The Fawley

This was by design, given that the Chaves is such an iconic shoe.

We'd be very interested in your point of view, please feed back if you have the time.

Best,

Foster & Son

Thank you for your rapid answer, I guess both need to be seen side by side as the Falway looks like a more rounded shape
