Our historic bespoke shoe collection Foster & Son/ Henry Maxwell

Country Derby:

Our last few posts have featured some elegant pieces from our bespoke collection. We thought it was time to show something a little more rugged and heavy duty. This is our 360° Storm Welted Country Derby. Designed for use in the countryside, this is the perfect weekend shoe for all seasons.

Perhaps the most striking characteristic of the shoe is the unique punching on the upper. The curved patterns seem unconventional but then this shoe wasn’t built for its conformity. Quite the opposite!

The challenge in taking this photo was to try and give a sense of durability and thickness. The sole itself is 0.5 inches and adds considerable weight to the shoe.

The welt gives the shoe its masculinity, it has 10 stitches to the inch and even after all these years there is still a waxy finish to the stitching. We have no doubt this shoe could face the prospect of an English Winter.

Is this still available? Can I come to the store and try it on?

Impressive. The storm welt is quite subtle.

Foster & Son, any chance you can share the group MTO process, and the cost involved sooner? Thanks.

My suede shoes, posted above, have a similar storm welt, though you can't tell from the terrible photo.

All of you MTO eager beavers need to be patient.  Foster & Son agreed to respond in due time.   Give them a little time.  I am sure the results will not disappoint.  Cheers.

Please make this the SF MTO shoe.  Black with patina, chiselled toe, seamless back, black fiddleback, dark purple or British Racing green lining.

Although I normally don't go for the chisel toe, I'd also be in on black with patina.  As long as the last was wide enough and not too elongated, something like the 337 in fit but squarer in the toe box.
