Mercerized??? I thought they only do that for cotton used in knit garments.

The cotton is smooth and soft enough. My goodness.

A couple new mytailors surprised in my mailbox this week. I ordered them August first and they arrived September fourth. Both are Thomas Mason Silverline.

Nothing particularly special, but some nice new blue shirts.

Top-left: Dark blue bengal stripe
Top-right: Mini-check blue (very mini)
Bottom-left: Pale gingham
Bottom-right: Solid pale blue.

There's no arguing with those classics.

Classics, yes, but I'm finding it strangely hard to match ties to my gingham shirt. I have a feeling that solids and, to a lesser extent stripes are the way to go, but it is still causing me some issues. What would the good people of SF recommend to wear with a fairly large and pale gingham?

since im mostly monocromatic (in tone) id go for pain ties in a matching tone but posibly some texture. But i tend do have ginghams sans tie and with barrel cufs. Im also partial to french plackets, but thats just me. But a nice selection

Although one is never sure what someone means by "match" I don't think that you necessarily either want to match or should worry about it. I would approach it as a solid shirt, I wouldn't worry about pattern clashing unless you are far too in touch with your feminine side. I would even drop checked ties on top of that shirt. What brands of ties do you like? A lot of what you use will depend the sorts of ties you like. if you like small patterned, dark ties that will make more of a difference and answer a lot more questions than concern over what ties will theoretically "go" with a gingham shirt.

I would not. The mini-check can be treated as a solid, but the gingham should be approached as what it is; a fairly neutral-coloured large check. The natural choice for this would be a dark solid. This is the closest I could come from my own wardrobe:

Bitter chocolate grenadine on two-tone ginghamish pinpoint

Alternately, a pattern much larger than the gingham would work as well. Something like a very thick stripe

Try paisley. Grenadine, as show, also works well.

Larger check but same idea.

I must admit to sometimes question your signature. But the combination is somewhat british, with good will that is. I would not be caught DEAD. To each his own
