Like the RJ collar, very much. Can I request it next time I'm there?

You can ask! They know it as the 28-29 collar with rounded points -- you know my name and can say it's the collar I often ordered, they'll remember me.

But there is still lots of time to place orders and receive them by third Saturday in February!

Luckily she finds the EG shoe boxes very useful for storage and asked me if I had any more... "They're coming!"

well at least Ms RJ (to be) never mentioned "at least they are not as good as those Alden's boxes"

huh.. no..

Rjman, I completely understand the point of this thread.. I guess I wasn't thinking about how someone else would interpret it.

My comment about lanvin is kind of like other threads with kabbaz... at some price point I stop thinking a shirt looks nice, or has a nice collar.. and wonder what the hell does $700+ get you?

We all know the materials don't cost anywhere near that amount... so then it kinda becomes 'how well does it look on you?'. Your shirt is beautiful.. I'd just like to see how at fits at this point. That's all.

I see you might put up pics.. thx. Otherwise, great purchase.

Yes, a close up on the fabric and details would be appreciated.

For breezy saturdays like today. 1st is a RTW voile. 2nd is a sur-mesure w/ matching hat; no I don't wear them both at the same time, just liked the pattern (have a scarf also).

Holy crap, Hermes bespoke.

Did you order in Paris? Did they have fittings?

Hermes acquired a bespoke shirtmaker when it bought the Maison Gaillet in the 1990s. However, Charvet eventually poached their shirtmaker, and it's not been clear who is making their shirts now.

No, I ordered at Madison Avenue, but yes there were fittings. About 2 years ago they extended the sur-mesure service to NYC. The store took the measurements and sent them to Paris. Paris sent back a muslin try-on, the store made some adjustments and then sent it back to Paris to make the shirt.

Makes sense what you say about Charvet, because after I received my shirt the store told me that I was lucky as there have been some staff issues in Paris and all orders were on hold. No idea what is going on now, but I know they raised the price about 3 or 4 times so there will not be any more orders.

If the shirtmaker is at Charvet now I should try to get my try-on shirt back and see if Charvet will use it?

Nope, he's retired this year anyway. I think he'd been at Charvet for a while already when I came. I think the issues at Hermes are more deep-seated than just turnover in the bespoke shirts department, according to the gossip.
