Well you can also get straight (or square) edge cuffs but I do prefer rounded cuffs (especially with french cuffs) though I have several with mitered ones too. I don't think it looks at all incongruous with a point or spread collar.

I know you _can_ get them. But with a barrel cuff, I would expect them to be very prone to curling. Which is probably one reason mitres and rounded corners have become ubiquitous. All my french cuffs are straight.

The straight edge button cuffs I have don't curl up if they are tight enough around your wrist. At least for RTW, straight edge french cuffs tend to get caught in your jacket sleeve.

There are also cuffs with a right triangle taken out of them, like so: Those and rounded cuffs will both prevent snagging.

THose are mitred cuffs.

Or mitered, as we say here in the US of A.

How do you rate Caliban shirts, EL ?

I would say they are a good mid-range Italian maker. No Borrelli or Kiton handwork and the finishing and details are not as nice as Lorenzini, Barba, Truzzi, Finamore... but definitely miles ahead of all the designer/dept. store brands like Ike Behar et al. The fabrics are nice and the fit is decent (not too baggy). The only thing is they make shirts in very colorful patterns and are better known for sports/casual shirts than classic dress shirts. I don't think I've ever seen a conservative blue or white shirt from them. Full retail is $200-$250 and I think they are a good value at ~$75.

Keeping things on track, try this one on for size:

Pristine. I cringe when I see people putting NWT clothes directly on the floor to take a photo but that shirt hasn't even escaped the box yet.

Does anyone know who makes the shirts for RLPL? How is the quality compared to say Lorenzini?
